Strawweight bouts Feb 86

Rafael Torres 0-0-0-0 vs Pedro Navarro 0-3-0-0

Pretty good fight scores were 38-38 twice and 39-37 Torres. I feel the last judge had it right. Torres did enough to win in my mind but not the judges.

Welo Maqolo 0-0-0-0 vs Noori Shakir 0-0-0-0

Maqolo started good winning the first two rounds then dropped the next two. scores 39-37 Maqolo and 38-38 twice.

#14 Masato Kudo 13-1-2-3 vs Shigenobu Takaki 1-3-0-0

Kudo in a stay busy fight takes on tomato can Takaki Good first round won by Kudo as he is able to hurt Takaki with a straight right. Even second round as both men trade some clean blows. Another close round as Takaki has actually come to fight. Kudo wins the fourth with clean punching. Kudo wins the fifth easily boxing from the outside landing fast clean punches. Kudo wins the sixth as Takaki doesn't land a punch. Takaki wakes up in the seventh but may not have done enough to win the round. Pretty dull round that Kudo wins with effective punches. To the scorecards 79-75 across the board for Masato Kudo who improves to 14-1-2-3.

#10 Kyung-Yun Lee 15-1-0-6 vs #13 Kenji Ono 8-1-1-1
APBC Strawweight Championship

Both pre prime sluggers are in excellent shape for this 12 rounder. Lee wins the first as Ono seems tentative. Ono does better in the second but I still think Lee won the round. Lee wins the third with quicker punches Ono just seems a step slower. Pretty even fourth as both men land some decent punches. Lee wins another round. Lee is warned for leaning on the neck of Ono and Ono is warned for hitting on the break. In the the sixth both men stand toe to toe and land some impressive blows. Ono is warned for low blows. Ono looks tired as the seventh begins but has his best round of the fight as he is able to land clean powerful blows on Lee's chin. Both fighters are breathing hard as they mix it up in the eighth. Both men trade in the center of the ring with the edge going to Lee. Lee is having a good ninth when he drops Ono with a right hook. Ono is up at eight and survives the ninth. Close tenth as both men stand and trade again with no clear cut winner.Ono has a big eleventh round as Lee seems tired. The last round is another close round as both fighters are tired and have little left in the tank. To the scorecards.116-112 twice and 116-114 for the winner and new APBC Strawweight champion Kyung-Yun Lee.

#6 Katsumi Komiyama 18-1-1-0 vs #7 Hideyuki Ohashi 23-1-4-6
IBF Strawweight Championship

The prime slugging Komiyama and the prime boxer Ohashi are both in great shape for this 15 rounder.Nice action round in the first that Komiyama edges. Ohashi suffers a cut over the right eye. Could be a problem with 14 rounds to go. Even second round Ohashi's cut is reopened and the ringside doc examines it but allows it to continue. Shortly after the round begins Ohashi's cut is reopened the doc examines it again and the fight continues. A punch later the cut is made worse and the doc feels the cut is too deep to continue. The winner by TKO at 1:20 of round 3 and new IBF Strawweight Champion Katsumi Komiyama

#4 Bong-Jun Kim 14-0-0-4 vs #5 Nick Dalisay 14-0-0-0
WBC Strawweight Championship

Both pre prime boxers are in fantastic shape for this 12 round championship fight. Kim is a 3-1 favorite coming into the bout. Kim with a huge first round as he is able to hurt Dalisay two minutes into the round. Dalisay covers up nicely and survives the round. Even second round edge to Dalisay. Another close round no clear cut winner. Dalisay is having a good round when a point is deducted for low blows. Dalisay is coming out strong in the fifth when inexplicably he hits Kim low again and gets himself disqualified. The winner and new WBC Champion Bong-Jun Kim.

Strawweight Rankings Feb 86

Ricardo Lopez 17-0-0-11
Bong-Jun Kim 15-0-0-4 WBC
Fernando Martinez 13-0-0-8
Carlos Alberto Martinez 21-1-0-8
Katsumi Komiyama 19-1-1-1 IBF
Nick Dalisay 14-1-0-0
Hideyuki Ohashi 23-2-4-6
Marcario Santos 12-2-0-4
Kyung-Yun Lee 16-1-0-6
Hector Luis Patri 12-2-0-2

The world title fights were very anticlimactic. It can only get better from here.

After this months fights I don't see that big of a change in the rankings and I'm sure he'll be in the mix for an initial title bout.

Jr Flyweight bouts Feb 86

Luis Estaba 3-1-0-3 vs Jaime Amarias 0-4-0-0

Estaba rebounds from his first career loss with an easy unanimous decision scores 40-36 twice and 39-38.

Alli Galvez 0-0-0-0 vs Pedro Baca 1-4-0-0

Awesome debut for Galvez. He lands a left right combo that drives Baca thru the ropes as Baca is counted out at 2:47 of the first round.

#12 Miguel Angel Lazarte 14-0-2-0 vs #20 Franco Udella 14-2-3-1

The pre prime Boxer Lazarte and the prime slugging Udella are in great shape for this 8 rounder. No feeling out round here, both men trade heavy shots clear cut advantage to Udella. Udella with another good round, he is able to cut Lazarte and a few seconds later the cut really opens up, the doc examines it but the fight continues. The corner isn't able to stop the blood flow between rounds, but it doesn't seem to bother Lazarte as he has his best round of the fight landing some great shots. Early in the fourth a clash of heads reopens Lazarte's cut and he looks a mess the doc says it's to bad to continue. Tough way to lose your first fight.

#11 Vuyani Nene 14-0-0-11 vs #19 Javier Varguez 19-1-0-18

Both sluggers are in great shape for this 8 rounder. The pre prime Nene is definately gonna have his hands full with the prime Varguez. Both fighters will be facing their toughest test to date and by the knockout percentages there could be some fireworks. Both men trade heavily in the first with a big edge to Varguez, Nene is just a bit tentative. Great second round that Nene is winning early but Varguez storms back to pull even. Varguez is warned for low blows. Tough round to score neither man lands a large number of punches but Nene is definately the busier fighter. In the fourth both men move inside and Nene pays early being wobbled badly by an uppercut, Nene manages to stay away and gets his feet back under him and closes the round strongly. Both men move inside again in the fifth, this time it is Nene who gets there first with a right hook that drops Varguez for a three count, Varguez rises but looks really bad one more Nene upppercut drops Varguez for a 10 count. Great win for Nene.

#2 Yoko Gushiken 20-0-0-17 vs #22 Jorge Cano 10-0-2-2

This is a match up of the pre prime slugger vs the pre prime boxer. Both men are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Huge first round for Gushiken as Cano seems a little startled by Gushikens aggresiveness. Cano is warned for holding and hitting. Gushiken drops Cano with an uppercut twenty seconds into round two but then gets wild and is unable to follow up on the hurt challenger. Another great round for Gushiken again he hurts Cano badly but is then unable to follow up. Gushiken batters Cano again in the fourth. Cano seems like he is just trying to survive as he isn't throwing many punches at all. Gushiken presses forward in the fifth and catches Cano along the ropes and is pummeling him as referee Perez Huerta jumps in to save Cano. Fifth round TKO for Yoko Gushiken.

#10 Myung-Woo Yuh 16-0-0-3 vs #21 Netrnoi Sor Vorasingh 11-0-0-1
APBC Jr Flyweight Championship

Again we have the pre prime Boxer vs the pre prime slugger. Both men are in top shape for this Championship bout. Good opening round for Yuh, The only punches Vorasingh was able to land were a few counters, that may be his stratagy. Pretty close second round as it is Vorasingh pressing the action, close round to judge. Great third as both fighters mix it up another tough round to score. Yuh stays outside in the fourth while Vorasingh tries to get inside and is successful as he wins the round. Great round of action in the fifth as Yuh starts quickly as he seems the quicker, Vorasingh rallies in the middle part of the round and Yuh closes the round with a huge hook. Another action round in the sixth as both men trade and defense goes out the window. Vorasingh looks worse for ear as he has swelling over his left eye and bleeding coming from the mouth as the round concludes, edge to Yuh. Both fighters look tired as the seventh begins, Another round for Yuh as both men continue teeing off on eachother with Yuh getting the better of it. Another competative round won by Yuh, Vorasingh is warned for holding and hitting. Yuh seems the fresher of the two as the ninth round begins, but the pace has definately slowed. Yuh wins another as Vorasingh just seem to tired to get enough punches off. Vorasingh has a good tenth as Yuh is tired himself and does little fighting. Both men go past the tenth for the first time in their careers. The eleventh is another slow round as both fighters appear spent, Vorasingh wins the round with a huge hook. The last round is a snoozer as 1 punch is landed, both men hug as the fight concludes. To the scorecards. 116-112...117-112 and 117-111 for the winner and new APBC Jr Flyweight Champion Myung-Woo Yuh

Flyweight Bouts Feb 86

Nathan Ballerda 0-0-0-0 vs Juan Villanueva 2-3-1-1

Ballerda never really gets started and loses his debut. Scores 39-37 across the board for Juan Villanueva.

Eyup Can 0-0-0-0 vs Aggur Nyamaekye 0-1-0-0

Eyup Can with a victory in his debut. Competative fight with Can doing as expected. Scores 39-38 across the board.

#10 Yukito Tamakuma 19-0-1-5 vs #30 Franco Sperati 17-2-3-0

Both of these prime boxers have come in in great shape for this 8 rounder. Even though Tamakuma is ranked higher Sperati is coming in as a 2-1 favorite. Surprise opening round as the light hitting Sperati drops Tamakuma for an eight count. Tamakuma does well to stay away after the knockdown. Tamakuma is fighting offensively from the outside in the second and has a good round as Sperati can't seem to landy any punches. Good third for Sperati as he is able to get to Tamakuma and land some nice punches. Both men trade back and forth in the fourth with the edge going to Tamakuma. Sperati is warned for holding and hitting. Not alot to choose from in the fifth but Tamakuma is the busier fighter. Tamakuma with a good sixth as Sperati just can't land as he is getting countered beautifully. Good seventh for Sperati as he lands some big punches. Tamakuma is warned for low blows. Big eighth round for Tamakuma as Sperati looks tired as the bell sounds. To the scorecards. 76-75 Tamakuma, 76-75 Sperati and 77-74 for the winner by split decision Yukito Tamakuma. Can't explain that last score with the two point first that means he only gave Sperati one other round. Seems fishy. Yamakuma remains unbeaten and moves to 20-0-1-5

#9 Bi-Won Chung 21-0-2-3 vs #17 Guty Espadas 18-0-1-11

The pre-prime boxer Chung is taking a big step up in opposition against the prime slugger Espadas. Both men are in top shape for this 10 rounder. Huge opening round for Espadas as he is able to get inside on Chung and land some heavy shots. Chung has a better round in the second but still cannot win the round as Espada's aggressiveness and clearly harder punches wins the round. Good third for Chung as he stays away and uses the jab effectively. Espadas is warned for low blows. Espadas wins the fourth as again he is able to get inside and do some good work. Espadas is on his way to a huge round when he has a point deducted for low blows. That point is mute as Chung is dropped by a hook for a six count. Chung rises only to get dropped by an upppercut and this time is counted out. Imprepssive showing by Guty Espadas winner by KO at 3:00 of the fifth round. Chung suffers his first defeat and Espadas remains unbeaten and moves to 19-0-1-12

#1 Ignacio Espinal 25-0-1-18 vs #16 Henry Nissen 14-0-0-0

We have the prime slugging Espinal vs the pre-prime boxer Nissen. Both men are in great shape for this 10 rounder. What a great first round both fighters exhange incredible blows with the advantage going to Espinal. Espinal is warned for holding and hitting. Close second round as both men have their moments. Another close round the edge would go to Nissen. Nissen is warned for low blows and leaning on the neck of Espinal. Another good round for Nissen as he uses the jab and counters nicely. Espinal is warned for holding and hitting. A big sixth for Nissen as he is just pot shotting Espinal. Nissen looks to be breathing heavily as the sixth round begins and Espinal takes advantage raking Nissens body and head. Espinal looks tired himself as the seventh round begins but that does not stop him from winning the round. Nissen just isn't busy enough. Espinal wins another round as he is landing the harder cleaner punches. Close ninth round but I fell Espinal wins another round. Good round for Nissen as he finally opens up for the first time in quite some rounds and wins the tenth. To the scorecards we go. 96-95 Ignacio, 96-94 for Nissen and 96-94 for the winner by split decision and still undefeated Ignacio Espinal. Nissen suffers his first defeat despite outlanding Espinal 304-254.

#8 Dave McAuley 16-0-0-3 vs #17 Octavio Gomez 16-0-1-4

We have a prime boxer in McAuley taking on a prime slugger in Gomez. McAuley is in great shape and Gomez took this fight on short notice so it may become a factor over the 10 rounds. First round was definately a feeling out round that McAuley wins by controlling it with his jab. Another good round for McAuley as he is just sharper then Gomez and grabs once Gomez gets close. McAuley wins another Gomez just is not getting off. McAuley is warned for rabbit punching. Gomez moves inside in the fourth and actually does well winning the round with some strong blows. Very slow fifth not many punches landed but McAuley was definately the busier man. Another slow round with the edge going to McAuley. McAuley is warned for leaning on the neck. Both fighters come alive in the seventh with Gomez landing some big shots and McAuley firing right back edge to Gomez. McAuley receives second warning for leaning on the neck. Gomez looks beat as the eighth round begins but gets a second win as he hurts McAuley badly with a right hook. McAuley is forced to cover up for the remainder of the round. Slow ninth as both men apppear tired no real clear cut winner that round. Gomez wins the tenth and it turns into a huge round as McAuley has a point deducted for a low blow. This could make the scoring very interesting. To the scorecards. All three judges score the bout 96-95 for the winner by unanimous decision Dave McAuley. The penalty bug costs Gomez a draw as none of the judges deducted the point from McAuley. Close punch totals Gomez outlands McAuley 188-185. Gomez definately should get a second chance due to the screw job.

Jr Bantamweight Bouts Feb 86

Due to the lack of real fighters this will only be a 4 bout fight card.

Ju-Do Chun 8-0-1-0 vs Hatunobu Ono 0-2-0-0

Nice performance by Chun as expected and adds his first KO to his record as the bout is stopped on a cut in the seventh round.

#6 Thanomsak Sithbaobay 22-0-0-5 vs #23 Rafael Orono 14-1-0-3

The prime boxer Sithbaobay and the pre-prime slugging Orono are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Orono has a big first round as he is able to touch up Sithbaobay whose right eye is already showing signs of swelling. Sithbaobay wins the second with sharp counters. Orono is warned for using his shoulders on the inside. Great third round both men trade with Orono landing the harder cleaner punches. Sithbaobay wins the fourth but is warned for an intentional headbutt. Another action round as both men are landing some bombs. Edge to Orono. Sithbaobay's right eye is progressively getting worse. Luckily he has Al Gavin in his corner. Sithbaobay wins the sixth as Orono doesn't look like he has much left in the tank. Orono wins the seventh as it is Sithbaobay who is looking tired and does minimal work in the seventh. Nice action round in the eighth as Sithbaobay can do no wrong as he is beating Orono to the punch and countering nicely. The ninth is a slow round that Sithbaobay edges with effective boxing. Both fighters are carrying thier arms low here in the tenth and no one really takes advantage. Edge to Orono to the scorecards we go. 96-95 Sithbaobay...97-95 for Orono and 96-95 for the winner by split decision Thanomsak Sithbaobay. Close fight no problem with the decision. Sithbaobay remains unbeaten and very well may get a title shot based on this victory.

#1 Armando Castro 23-0-2-19 vs #21 Kongtoranee Payakaroon 14-1-0-9

The prime slugger Castro and the pre-prime slugger Payakaroon are in great shape for this 10 rounder(scheduling error on my part actually an 8 rounder.) Huge first round for Payakaroon as Castro tastes his power early and is dropped for a three count. Better second round for Castro as he is able to land some clean blows on Payakaroon. Another good round for Castro in the third. After the first round Payakaroon seems to have gone into a shell and is not punching. Great fourth as both men trade heavy shots and it is Castro who again get the best of it. After the first round Castro is now in full control of this bout. I spoke to soon. Payakaroon wins the fifth as he is landing the better shots this round.(I'm kicking myself for screwing up the number of rounds for this fight) Payakaroon is having a good sixth cutting Castro above the right eye until he walks into an uppercut and is dropppepd for a six count. No time left in the round for Castro to follow up. Castro wins the seventh as Payakaroon seems tired. blood is evident from the cut in the seventh but has yet to become a factor. Payakaroon is having another good round when a right hook to the body drops him for a six count. Payakaroon is shortly dropped by an upperpcut for an 8 count he rises as the bell sounds to conclude the bout. Scorecards read 76-72..75-74 and 77-71 all for the winner by unanimous decision Armando Castro. Scores were all over the place. Good win for Castro after the scary beginning.

#8 Mike Phelps 14-0-0-1 vs #10 Payao Poontarat 17-1-0-5

We have a pre-prime boxer vs a pre-prime slugger and both men are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Phelps with a good first round as he is countering the busier Poontarat. Phelps is warned for a low blow. Phelps is clearly beating Poontarat to the punch in the second. Poontarat wins the third as he lands some clean blows. Phelps is back to countering Poontarat and Poontarats left eye is showing the signs of Phelps effevtiveness. Good round four for Phelps. Poontarat wins the fifth as he gets inside on Phelps and is able to corner him and land some great blows. What round Poontarat seems to be laboring but he and Phelps explode in the sixth taking turns just teeing off. Poontarat's left eye is really starting to look bad. Close seventh as the pace slowed tough round to score, Phelpsp is also looking tired as the round closes. Another close and boring round in the eighth, no clear cut winner. Phelps wins the ninth as he is on his bicycle and countering effectively. The tenth was a clinch fest were the only punch landed was a low blow by Phelps. To the scorecards. 98-93 twice and 96-95 for thw winner by unanimous decision and still undefeated Mike Phelps

Bantamweight Bouts Feb 86

Al Cabillan 0-0-0-0 vs Tsuramatsu Kouki 0-3-1-0

Very competative fight as the scores indicate. 38-38 across the board. Maybe if Cabillan was in shape he may have won his debut.

Rollie Penaroya 0-0-0-0 vs Joe Sasaki 0-3-0-0

Now that's a debut Penaroya comes out and tags Sasaki with a classic right hook and Sasaki is counted out at 1:39 of the first round.

#21 Harold Petty 15-0-0-6 vs #23 Ernest Koffi 12-0-0-9

The pre-prime boxer Petty and the pre-prime slugging Koffi are in great shape for this 8 rounder. Coming into the bout Petty is a 2-1 favorite. There was no feeling out in that round both men went at it landing some great shots, advantage to Koffi. Very close second round as Petty boxes from the outside, to close a round to call. Again both men just trade heavy shots. Petty's best round but still may not have won it. Petty definately wins the fourth as he outlands Koffi with some nice power shots.Very slow fifth that Petty wins by using the jab. Another slow round in the sixth as Koffi cannot land a punch, another round for Petty. Petty looks winded as the seventh round begins but he is still able to use his legs and outbox the charging Koffi, another round for Petty. Petty uses the ring again in the eighth and easily outboxes Koffi again. What started out as a close fight after three rounds got pretty onesided once Petty used his boxing skills to outbox Koffi. The scorecards read 79-76 and 78-75 twice for the winner by unanimous decision Harold Petty.

#8 Carlos Zarate 21-0-0-21 vs #27 Takao Sakurai 16-0-1-0

Your classic boxer vs slugger match, Both fighters are at pre-prime and are in great shape for this 10 rounder. I know Sakurai wants to raise the level of his competition but taking on Zarate could prove costly. Zarate almost ends it in the first as he hurts Sakurai with the first punch he lands and proceeds to wack Sakurai with rights and lefts but give Sakurai credit he withstood the barrage and fought back nicely towards the end of the round. Nice action in the second as Sakurai mixes it up with Zarate, advantage Zarate, Sakurai suffers a cut above the right eye. Ringside physician examines it but the bout continues. Another great round for Zarate as he is doing some incredible body work. Sakurai has his best round of the fight as he clearly outboxes Zarate. The cut above Sakurai's right eye has not been a problem as it hasn't opened in two rounds. I spoke to soon 15 seconds into the fifth the cut is reopend and the ringside physician says he cannot continue. Winner by TKO here in the fifth. Carlos Zarate. Hell of a way to lose your first bout. Sakurai is tough look forward to seeing him again. Zarate remains unbeaten and moves to 22-0-0-22

#1 Roberto Rubaldino 26-0-0-24 vs #27 Satoshi Shingaki 16-0-0-14

Both sluggers are in excellant shape for this 10 rounder. The prime Rubaldino is heavily favored over the pre-prime Shingaki. I have a feeling there are gonna be some bombs thrown in this one. And man did the first not disappoint both men just traded heavy, heavy shots advantage to Rubaldino and Shingaki will now have to deal with swelling that is evident under the left eye. A huge round for Rubaldino as he pastes Shingaki with lefts and rights. Shingaki's left eye is really gonna be a problem as the fight progresses as it is looking angry as the round closes. The third is moving along slowly when out of no where a Shingaki right drops Rubaldino for the first time in his career. He struggles to rise at eight and is pummelled for the remainder of the round and now his eye is showing major swelling. As the fourth begins Rubaldino's eye looks worse then Shingaki's. What a fight Rubaldino charges back in the fifth and drops Shingaki with a three punch salvo. Shingaki rises at five but is definately hurt, he gets on his bicycle and manages to avoid any further punishment. Both men come out flat footed in the fifth and a perfectly thrown uppercut drops Shingaki for a three count. Rubaldino doesn't go wild he takes his time and a well placed cross drops Shingaki again and this time he is counted out. Great win for Rubaldino in one hell of a fight.

#4 Chan-Yong Park 26-0-0-10 vs #26 Alberto Sandoval 16-1-0-12

Both boxers are in great shape for this 10 rounder. The pre-prime Sandoval is taking a big step up in competition taking on the prime Park. Decent opening round definately a feeling out round edge to Park as he landed the harder punches. Nice round for Sandoval as he is able to tag Park with some crisp combos. Very even third round as both men have their moments. Very slow fourth as the pace has slowed, neither man really stood out in that round. The fifth is a back and forth round as Sandoval wins the early part, Park the middle and Sandoval closes it with a huge combo, round to Sandoval. Park is warned for leaning on the neck. Park wins the sixth as Sandoval does very little fighting. Park wins the seventh as he lands the cleaner harder blows, Sandoval lands when he throws he's just not throwing. Park is warned for using his shoulder. Park wins the eighth as he is doing just enough to edge Sandoval, Sandoval is warned for using his shoulder. Sandoval wins the ninth as he senses he needs a knockout to win and lands some huge punches on Park's jaw but Park takes the punches well. Sandoval wins the tenth as Park seems confident he had the decision and didn't want to chance anything. To the scorecards. 97-93 Sandoval...96-95 Park and 96-95 for the winner by split decison Alberto Sandoval...Judge Gerald Ritter who had the score 97-93 needs to be investigated, I have no problem with the other two judges. Great win for Sandoval. Park shutting down in the tenth definately hurt him.

Jr Featherweight Bouts Feb 86

Freddy Cruz 0-0-0-0 vs Pedro Hernandez 0-6-0-0

Decent debut by Cruz. A workman like performance scores 39-37 twice and 38-38.

Ruben Palacios 8-2-0-3 vs #47 Shigeru Sasaki 11-5-2-1

The pre-prime Palacios moves up the competition level taking on the prime Sasaki. Both men are in great shape for this 6 rounder. Great first round that starts good for Sasaki as he hurts Palacios early but Palacios storms back late in the round. Palacios wins the second as Sasaki can't seem to get off. Close third best punch of the round was an intetional headbutt by Susaki. Another round for Palacios, he seems like he's stealing the rounds as he waits till the final minute to come alive. Sasaki wins the fifth with sharper punches. Close final round no clear cut winner. To the scorecards 59-56 Palacios..59-59 and 58-57 for the winner by majority decision Ruben Palacios. Good win for Palacios as Sasaki was favored prior to the bout starting.

#18 Juan Meza 12-0-0-10 vs #23 Juan Antonio Lopez 12-0-1-6

We have the pre-prime boxer vs the pre-prime slugger. Both men re in great shape for this 8 rounder. Meza is a 2-1 favorite coming into the bout. Lopez starts well until a Meza hook hurts him badly. Meza wins the second with some impressive counterpunching, there is swelling beginning under the left eye of Lopez. Meza wins the third as he is able to beat Lopez to the punch. Meza wins the fourth as he is able to rattle Lopez again. Lopez looks out of gas as the fifth begins and Meza can sense it and comes out firing bombs. A Meza right drops Lopez for an eight count he rises only to get dropped again by an uppercut. Lopez rises again at nine this time but the ref has seen enough and stops the fight. Great win for Meza who moves to 13-0-0-11

#18 Wilfredo Gomez 14-0-0-14 vs #24 Ricardo Cardona 17-1-0-5

Both pre-prime men cone into this fight in great shape. This bout is scheduled for 8 rounds. Gomez is a 7-2 favorite. Very good first round as both men land some good punches, edge to Gomez. Close second round with the edge going to Gomez again. Cardona is winning the third until a wicked hook to the body drops him for a three count. Cardona bounces back nicely and wins the fourth with some great combos. Another ggod round both men land some heavy shots, edge to Gomez. Cardona looks tired as the sixth begins, but still has a good round. Cardona with a big seventh as Gomez is looking winded. Both men stand and trade with Gomez landing the harder blows. Gomez is taken the distance for the first time. To the scorecards 77-75 across the board for the winner by unanimous decision Wilfredo Gomez.

#6 Jeff Fenech 16-0-0-15 vs #28 Seung-Hoon Lee 18-1-0-10

The pre-prime slugger Fenech and the prime boxer Lee are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. Fenech wins the first with some great power shots. Great second as both men stand and trade and Lee gets the best of it. The third is another action round edged by Lee as he actually lands the better power shots. Wow what a round both men again stand and trade with both men landing some damaging shots. Fenech is warned for leaning on the neck. Fenech with a big fifth round as he is able to paste Lee with some bombs. Lee is having a huge sixth round when a Fenech hook drops Lee for an eight count. The bell sounds as Lee gets to his feet. Lee bounces back nicely to win the seventh with some great combos, Fenech is looking tired. Both men are standing and trading in the eighth with Fenech definately landing the cleaner harder punches. Ninth is pretty slow qith no clear cut winner. In the tenth both men stand and trade again and again both men land some great punches and their is no clear cut winner. To the scorecards. 96-95, 97-96 and 97-94 for the winner by unanimous decision Jeff Fenech.

#2 Jaime Garza 21-0-0-19 vs #20 Ruben Valdez 19-2-0-5

We have a prime boxer vs a prime slugger, both men are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Garza is having a big round when he lands a right hook that drops Valdez for a five count. The bell ends the round as Valdez gets to his feet. Great second as both men stand and trade with Garza landing the cleaner blows. Not sure if I would stand and trade with Garza if I was Valdez. Garza wins the third as the pace has slowed. Garza wins the fourth with some wicked power shots. What a chin Valdez is showing. Valdez wins the fifth with some great counterpunching. Garza comes out and lands a right that causes a nasty gash above Valdez' right eye, the cut is worsened three times in one round and on the third time the ref stops the fight.

Featherweight Bouts Feb 86

Eloy Rojas 0-0-0-0 vs Jorge Carranza 0-4-0-0

Impressive win for Rojas. He dropped Carranza with the first blow of the fight. Carranza got to his feet at three and even won the second round. But the third was all Rojas as he dropped Carranza for a six count then another cross dropped Carranza for the full 10.

Cesar Soto 0-0-0-0 vs Angel Flores 0-4-0-0

Impressive debut for Soto. Boxes masterfully cutting Flores under both eye on his way to a unanimous decision scores 40-36 across the board.

#12 Spider Nemoto 16-0-1-5 vs #22 Chander Sen 13-0-1-10

We have the pre-prime boxer in Nemoto vs the pre-prime slugger Sen. Both men are in great shape for this 8 rounder. Nemoto is an 8-1 favorite coming into the bout. Sen is having a pretty good round when he ducks into a hook and is dropped for a seven count. Nemoto lands some sharp punches on Sen but can do no further damage. Pretty close second round edge to Sen. Great third for Nemoto as he seems to counter everything Sen throws. Sen wins the fourth with some great body work. As the fifth begins Nemoto looks the fresher of the two but lets Sen get inside and and land some great shots, another round for Sen. Another round for Sen as Nemoto just cannot get off. Nemoto with a huge seventh as he goes back to countering and lands some huge shots, Sen's right eye is swelling as the round closes. Nemoto with a great tenth as he wins it hands down. To the scorecards. 79-74 Nemoto..76-76 and 77-75 for Nemoto. Nemoto with the majority decision remains unbeaten while Sen loses his first bout.

#18 Felipe Orozco 18-0-0-6 vs #41 Pedro Gomez 14-3-0-4

We have the prime boxer Orozco taking on the pre-prime boxing Gomez. Both men are in shape for this 8 rounder. Gomez is looking to rebound from a 10 round majority decision loss to Muhammed Nurhuda. Gomez wins the first with some great combos and the use of his jab Close second round edge goes to Orozco as he is the busier fighter. Great action round as both men take turns landing some clean accurate punches. Edge to Orozco. Gomez wins the fourth as Orozco waited two minutes before throwing his first punch. Gomez wins the fifth easily as he is just pot shotting Orozco and Orozco just isn't busy. Gomez wins the sixth as Orozco is content to hold and be out worked. Orozco comes to life in the seventh and lands some great punches, round to Orozco. Both men stand and trade in the eighth and again Orozco gets the better of it. To the scorecards. 77-75 Gomez and 76-76 on the final two cards a majority draw. I have no problem with the scoring Gomez let it get away from him in the last two rounds.

#2 Davey Kotay 20-0-1-14 vs #19 Jim McDonnell 14-0-0-5

The prime slugging Kotay and the pre-prime boxing McDonnell are in superb shape for this 10 rounder. Kotay is an 8-1 favorite coming into the bout. That doesn't phase McDonnell as he drops Kotay in the first. Didn't think Kotay was gonna make it up but is up at eight. The bell sounds as Kotay rises. That was unexpected. Close second round as Kotay has a better round but I feel McDonnell still pulled the round out. Kotay can't win a round every time he scores Mcdonnell scores two punches, another round for McDonnell. Kotay wins the fourth as McDonnell can't land a punch. Kotay is warned for a low blow. McDonnell wins the fifth with some creat combos. McDonnell is warned twice once for low blows the other for holding and hitting. Kotay is having a good round when McDonnell lands a left right combo that drops Kotay for the second time of the night, he rises at six but is tagged a few more times before the bell sounds ending the round. Kotay will have to do something big as his title shot is slipping away. Both fighters look tired as the seventh round begins. Kotay wins the round but has a point deducted for low blows, McDonnell is warned again this time for kidney punches. Kotay comes out in the eighth trying to turn this fight around. He lands some great punches but McDonnell matches him punch for punch. Even round in my book. Kotay is looking for the kayo as the ninth begins, he cannot hurt McDonnell but definately wins the round. Close final round, could go to either man. To the scorecards 96-92, 98-89 and 97-91 all for the winner by unanimous decision Jim McDonnell. Huge win for McDonnell and a very disappointing loss for Kotay who tastes defeat for the first time.

#1 Antonio Gomez 32-0-0-7 vs #20 Rigoberto Riasco 17-0-0-7

The pre-prime Riasco will have his hands full against the prime Gomez. Both men are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Gomez is a 5-2 favorite. Close first round as both men have their moments edge to Gomez. Riasco is warned for holding and hitting. Riasco wins the second with crisp combos. Gomez has a huge round as he basically pummells Riasco, wouldn't be surprised if that is scored a 10-8 round. Riasco's left eye is looking ugly as the round concludes. Gomez wins the fourth as he is the busier man. Gomez wins another round as Riasco is fighting sporadically and not enough. Riasco looks tired as the sixth round begins and has a pretty decent round, I would say the round is even. Gomez comes out stalking Riasco and lands a great right hook that drops Riasco for a 10 count. Gomez does as expected raising his record to 33-0-0-8 and Riasco suffers his first loss in a fight he was horribly over matched in.

Jr Lightweight Bouts Feb 86

John-John Molina 0-0-0-0 vs Ethan Decker 1-3-0-0

Nice debut for Molina. In complete control but is never able to rock Decker. Scores 40-37 and 39-37

#69 Victor Echegaray 12-2-0-2 vs #70 Charles Jurietti 14-3-2-2

The pre-prime slugger Echegaray and the pre-prime boxing Jurietti are both in great shape for this 6 rounder. Echegaray is an 8-1 favorite coming into the bout. Great first round by Jurietti as he completely outboxes Echegaray. Another round for Jurietti as he continues to baffle Echegaray with sharp combos. Echegaray finally gets it going in the third, getting inside on Jurietti and landing some clean power shots. Echegaray pulls even with another good round as he out works Jurietti. Another good round for Echegaray as Jurietti looks fatigued and hardly threw any punches that round. Close final round, could go to either man. I have Echegaray by a point. To the scorecards. 59-56 Echegaray, 57-57 and 58-56 for the winner by majority decision Victor Echegaray.

#8 Cornelius Boza-Edwards 20-0-0-17 vs #23 Hector Camacho 16-0-0-10

Both pre-prime boxers are in excellent shape for this 10 round bout. Camacho is a 2-1 favorite. Camacho definately the faster of the two as he is ripping lefts and rights on Edwards and with 30 seconds left in the round a left right combo drops Edwards for a 7 count. Good round both men land some good shots to close a round to call. Edwards is warned for a low blow and leaning on the neck of Camacho. Camacho is impressive again in the third as he is able to make Edwards miss and land some great shots. A Camacho jab opens a cut over Boza-Edwards right eye.Camacho wins another as Boza-Edwards is just too slow. and Camacho is landing some great shots. Boza-Edwards has a better round but still not enough to win the round. Boza-Edwards best round of the fight as he out works Camacho and lands some heavy shots. As the round closes Boza-Edwards looks spent. Camacho is back in control in the seventh as he is boxing beautifully and is able to start the blood flowing again from the cut over Boza-Edwards right eye. Boza-Edwards was a little slow getting off the stool this round and Camacho takes full advantage landing some clean and powerful blows on Edwards, as the round closes Boza-Edwards right eye is showing swelling and he has also suffered a cut over the left eye. Camacho is warned for a low blow. Camacho wins the ninth with some great combos, a left jab reopens the cut over Boza-Edwards right eye, the doc examines it and the bout continues. Camacho is warned for holding and hitting. Boza-Edwards comes out looking to turn this fight around but he is just too slow and Camacho just counters him. The scores are a foregone conclusion 96-93, 99-90 and 97-92 for Camacho. Impressive win for Camacho as Boza-Edwards was never really in the fight. This loss probably costs Boza-Edwards an initial title fight and will definately raise Camacho's stock.

#2 Ben Villaflor 27-0-0-20 vs #10 Rocky Lockridge 21-0-0-19

The prime slugging Villaflor and the pre-prime slugging Lockridge are in fantastic shape for this 10 round fight. Villaflor is 2-1 favorite coming into this bout. Villaflor wasted no time jumping on Lockridge in the first pasting him with rights and lefts, two minutes into the round Lockridge was already showing swelling under the right eye. Lockridge's arms look to be low as the second round begins. Villaflor with another huge round as Lockridge looks overwhelmed. Lockeidges right eye is swelling horribly, Jack DeForrest is gonna have his hands full. Villaflor is a monster he just continues to hammer away on Lockridge and with 1:45 he drops Lockridge with a right hook for a 7 count. Lockridge rises but Villaflor can do no further Damage. Lockridge is still carrying his arms low. Villaflor has another incredible round as he is landing everything he throws. Loockridges right eye is now closed this bout won't continue to much longer. Lockridge has heart but it maybe time to throw in the towel. Lockridge has a pretty good fifth but is still being pummelled by Villaflor. Villaflor comes out strong in the sixth and lands a great right hand right down the pipe and Lockridge drops like he's been shot and is counted out at 1:27 of the sixth. Impressive win for Villaflor, Not to bad a loss for Lockridge, chalk it up as a learning experience.

#6 Alexis Arguello 20-0-0-19 vs #25 Jean-Marc Renard 15-0-0-4

The prime slugging Arguello and the pre-prime boxing Renard are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Arguello is an 8-1 favorite. Good opening round for Arguello as he is definately the puncher in this bout and give Renard credit he has come to fight. Arguello lands some bombs in the first and Renard stands upto them not sure how long he will if he continues to get hit like that. Good round in the second as both men are able to land some clean shots, advantage to Arguello. Arguello wins the third as his punches are stronger and more accurate. Another round for Arguello as he continues to methodically pressure Renard and continues to land some bombs. Renard has a decent fifth but still does not win the round as Arguello is the busier of the two. Arguello wins another round. Renard is standing and exchanging with Arguello and to my surprise has yet to even be rattled. Arguello continues to tee off on Renard but Renard continues to fight back. Arguello comes off the stool firing in the eighth and a straight right hand right on the button drops Renard for an eight count, he rises only to face the onslaught a picture perfect left right combo drops him again and again he rises at the count of nine but referee Van de Wiele has seen enough and waves off the fight. Arguello looked sharp and again Renard has nothing to be ashamed about quite a few people have been kayoed by the Explosive thin man.

#1 Julio Cesar Chavez 26-0-0-26 vs #23 Samuel Serrano 19-0-1-2

The prime slugging Chavez and the pre-prime boxing Serrano are both in top shape for this 10 rounder. Chavez is a 2-1 favorite over Serrano. Holy cow talk about impressive Chavez comes out and lands an uppercut that drops Serrano and he is counted out 49 seconds into the first round. Chavez has just solidified himself as the number one Jr Lightweight in the world. And with Arguello's performance in the previous match these maybe your number one and number two contenders, what a fight that will be

Lightweight Bouts Feb 86

Lou Bizzarro 0-0-0-0 vs Michael Deal 0-4-0-0

Nice debut by Bizzarro, very workman like nothing flashy. Scores 39-37, 40-36 and 39-38

August Jim 0-0-0-0 vs George James 0-5-0-0

Pretty dull fight no one really impressed. Scores 39-38 Jim, 39-38 James and 39-38 for the winner by split decision August Jim.

#36 James Busceme 13-0-0-12 vs #39 Anthony"Two Guns"Fletcher 14-0-0-1

We have the pre-prime slugger taking on the pre-prime boxer in this scheduled 8 rounder. Both men are in tip top shape. Coming into the bout Busceme is an 8-1 favorite. Busceme wins the first as Fletcher is content to move and not throw any punches. Busceme is warned for a low blow. Great secomd round as Fletcher came out firing and was dominating the round until Busceme opened up and was tagging Fletcher with some impressive power shots. Edge to Busceme. Fletcher wins the third as he stays outside and lands some nice combos. Fletcher has an impressive round as he continues to use the ring and pot shot Busceme, A Fletcher hook opens a severe gash over the left eye of Busceme. The ringside physician examines it and the bout continues. With four rounds to go this can be a huge problem for Busceme. Manny Seamon isn't able to staunch the blood flow from Busceme's cut, very early in the round a Fletcher hook widens the cut, the doc allows the fight to continue and both men slug it out in the fifth, to close to call. Busceme is having a decent round and opens a cut above Fletchers right eye when a Fletcher hook reopens Busceme's cut and the blood is everywhere, Tony Weeks stops the bout, Fletcher is running around the ring in celebration. Huge win for Fletcher and a tough first loss for Busceme.

#7 Ray"Boom Boom"Mancini vs #12 Hugo Barraza 17-0-1-13

Both of these pre-prime sluggers are in excellent shape for this 10 rounder. This will be the first big test for either man. And Mancini is up for the challenge as he stalks Barraza and with a 1:05 an uppercut drops Barraza for a 10 count. Impressive showing by Mancini who was a 3-1 favorite coming into the bout. Barraza suffers his first defeat.

#1 Livingstone Bramble 24-0-0-10 vs #22 Jorge"Cocas"Ramirez 17-1-0-14

Both of these prime sluggers are in excellent shape for this 10 rounder. Bramble a 7-1 favorite is looking to stay busy before his initial title shot. Both men stand and trade and Bramble gets the better of it. Ramirez suffers a cut on the bridge of the nose and it is worsened 3 times in the round, with the doc examining it twice but allows the fight to continue. The blood is still visable on the face of Ramirez as round two gets under way. Bramble has a good second as he is just sharper then Ramirez. As the third begins Bramble lands three hard jabs and a hook and the cut is reopened, Perez Huerta waves it off. Bramble does as expected. TKO 3 at 1:47.

#4 Jeff White 25-1-1-15 vs #16 Jose Luis Ramirez 15-0-0-11

The prime boxing White and the pre-prime slugging Ramirez are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. White starts good but a minute in Ramirez gets going and lands some heavy blows. Edge to Ramirez. Ramirez takes the second with some great counter punches. Ramirez with a huge third as he is tagging White with great power shots and even scores a flash knockdown. Not much to choose from here in the fourth. Another huge round for Ramirez as he is pummelling White. White is being exposed by Ramirez. Ramirez continues to come forward and is hammering White with rights and lefts, A Ramirez hook drops White for a seven count. Ramirez continues to get inside on White and lands another cross that drops White for the third time in the bout, he rises at seven and boxes carefully to survive the round. Ramirez continues to hurt White repeatedly as White is dropped twice more for 8, and 9 counts and was down a third time which was ruled a push down. White has heart but he is getting seriously hurt. White absorbs another wicked beating in the ninth, give him credit for not getting dropped again. White seems to have won over the fans with his heart as he is dropped two more times in the tenth for a total of seven times in the bout and both times rises. He finishes the fight on his feet. The scores are meaningless as Amy Hayes reads the decision 99-84, 100-84 and 100-85 for the winner by unanimous decision. White suffers his first defeat since his second pro fight ending a 25 fight win streak. Ramirez was very impressive and is sure to rise in the rankings after this victory.

Jr Welterweight Bouts Feb 86

Special two card event first card is Night of Debut's

Bruno Arcari 0-0-0-0 vs Mark Nichols 0-4-0-0

Great debut by Arcari who scores the shutout in unanimous fashion with scores of 40-35 across the board. Arcari dropped Nichols for a nine count in the first but was unable to finish him.

Antonio Cervantes 0-0-0-0 vs Mark Wilson 0-5-0-0

The highly antcipated debut of Cervantes goes as expected as he totally outclasses Wilson. Wilson had to contend with a swollen right eye from the first round on and was practically closed by the fourth. Scores 40-36 twice and 39-37 for Cervantes. Cervantes outlanded Wilson 162-56.

Roger Zami 0-0-0-0 vs Tom Hickman 0-2-0-0

Zami's debut didn't go as planned as a very close fight swung in Hickman's favor when he scored a flash knockdown in the fourth round. Scores 38-37 Hickman, 38-37 Zami and 39-37 for Hickman. Punch totals were in favor of Zami 91-87.

Rene Roque 0-0-0-0 vs Adam Smith 0-3-1-0

Another debut down the drain as Roque is just out worked by Smith. Scores 39-37 twice and 38-38. Smith the busier of the two outlanded Roque 87-63.

Jose Luis Torcida 0-0-0-0 vs Jon Malott 0-4-0-0

The night of debut's is turning ugly as Torcida is outworked and drops a majority decision scores 39-37 twice and 38-38. I had it 38-38 myself but really can't complain about the decision.

Des Rea 0-0-0-0 vs Travis Carlson 0-6-0-0

Not the debut Rea was looking for but he'll take it a majority draw. Rea faces adversity in his pro debut as he suffered a bad gash over his right eye but didn't change his game plan. Scores 39-38 Rea and 38-38 twice. Carlson outlanded Rea 106-97.

Fight Card II

Paul Fijii 0-0-0-0 vs Isao Hakui 0-2-0-0

Impressive debut by Fujii. Very close fight after three rounds then Fujii explodes in the fourth scoring three knockdiowns to score the TKO.

Angel Vargas 0-0-0-0 vs Lowell Cluff 1-5-0-0

Very competative fight, Vargas started well domintating the first two rounds, the dropped the next two. Scores 38-38 across the board

#95 Moises Cantoja 10-3-0-1 vs # 79 Steve Hearon 12-3-1-7

The pre-prime boxer Cantoja and the pre-prime slugging Hearon are both in great shape for this 8 rounder. Cantoja is trying to rebound from three consecutive losses after winning his first ten. While Hearon is trying to rebound from a 10 round unanimous decision loss to Alberto Castro. Hearon starts well getting inside on Cantoja but 1:00 in Cantoja gets going and lands some wicked combos causing a bad gash above the right eye of Hearon. The doc examines it and the bout continues. Hearon is warned for leaning on Cantoja's neck. The cut above Hearon's right eye continues to bleed as round two gets under way. Great second round as both men land some clean shots, even round. Good third for Hearon who is busier then Cantoja. Hearon wins the third as again he is outlanding Cantoja. Give Hearons cutman credit as the cut hasn't bleed since the second. Great action round in the fifth as I jinxed Hearon and the cut is reopened again the doc allows the fight to continue. In a great back and fourth round advantage to Hearon. Another great round in the sixth as both men continue to mix it up. Edge to Hearon but could really go either way. Hearon appears to be running out of gas in the seventh and Cantajo takes advantage and lands numerous combos, Cantoja himself looks tired as the round closes. In the final round Cantojo comes out firing and rocks Hearon badly but is unable to follow up. Jimmy Lennon Jr with the decision. 77-76 Cantoja, 76-76 and 78-76 for Hearon a draw. Great fight wouldn't mind watching this one again.

#3 John Meekins 23-0-1-3 vs #29 Langton Tinago 20-1-1-4

Both of these prime boxers are in fantastic shape for this 10 rounder. Great opening round as bith men have their moments with the edge going to Tinago as his punches were alot cleaner.Great second round for Meekins as he is beating Tinago to the punch. Meekins wins a close third as both men are again very active, Tinago is definately landing the harder punches. Pace slows in the fourth as both men fight from long range, pretty close round, even on my card. Meekins clearly wins the fifth as Tinago doesn't land a punch. Another round for Meekins as he is now alot quicker then Tinago. Tinago maybe letting this chance slip away. Tinago steps it up in the seventh and Meekins counters everything, another round for Meekins. Not alot to choose from in the eighth slight edge to Tinago. Tinago looks tired as the ninth round begins and Meekins takes advantage just tattooing Tinago, Tinago lands some nice shots towards the end of the round but not enought to win the round. Meekins shuts it down in the tenth and is content to give the round away. Scorecards read 96-95 Meekins, 95-95 and 97-94 for the winner by majority decision John Meekins. Good win just don't like how he shut it down, made the fight alot closer then it should have been.

#9 Bruce Curry 23-1-2-13 vs #14 Lennox Blackmoore 16-0-0-4

The prime boxing Curry and the pre-prime boxing Blackmoore are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Pretty slow first round as both men are feeling eachother out. Curry seems to have injured his right hand. Good second round for Curry as lands some clean combos. Pretty close round that I feel Curry wins with a huge hook at the bell. Both men trade nicely in the fourth with Curry getting the better of it. Pretty slow fifth Blackmoore with the edge as he lands the cleaner blows. Big sixth for Curry as he is pasting Blackmoore with lefts and rights. Blackmoore is cut above the right eye by a Curry hook. The doc examines it and both men will continue on. Blackmoore is carrying his hand low as the seventh round begins and Curry lands a brutal hook that starts the blood flowing freely and referree Lou Moret waves it off. Great win for Curry who may get himself in title contention with this victory. Blackmoore suffers his first pro defeat. Judge Jerry Roth incredibly had Blackmoore ahead 58-57.

#1 Hector Thompson 23-1-0-8 vs #16 Roger Mayweather 14-0-0-8

The prime boxing Thompson and the pre-prime boxing Mayweather are in excellent shape for this 10 rounder. Mayweather is a 3-2 favorite coming into this bout. Many feel Thompson isn't a true number one contender as he has not beaten anyone of significance. Slow opening round as both men are tentative, edge to Mayweather as he is busier. Mayweather clearly wins the second as he lands some impressive counters. Thomspon fights offensively from the outside in the third and has his best round thus far with clean power shots. Mayweather wins a lackluster fourth as both men barely throw a punch. Mayweather wins another slow round, only action is Mayweather drawing a warning for using his shoulder. Thompson moves outsied again in the sixth and wins it easily again, that's were he needs to keep the fight as he does his best work from the outside. Close seventh could go to either man. Another very close round, both men land some bombs but both absorb the punches well.Thompson wins the ninth as he stalked Mayweather and landed some major shots, but again is unable to hurt Mayweather. Mayweather easily wins the tenth as Thompson is to tired to make a puch. To the scorecards. 96-94 Mayweather, 96-95 Thompson and 95-95 a Draw. Close fight but I thought Mayweather deserved the decision. Thompson may not have beaten anyone of significance but he hung tough. He will need to fight better if he wishes to remain atop the division. Mayweather outlanded Thomspon 209-180

Night of Debuts II

David Thio 0-0-0-0 vs Terry Campbell 1-5-0-1

Irish born David Thio is spectacular in his debut as he caught Campbell with a solid 1-2 and Campbell is counted out at 2:36 of the first round.

Ernie Lopez 0-0-0-0 vs Will Conner 0-5-0-0

Lopez is very impressive in his debut. He drops Conner in the first for a three count and bides his time as he knows he will get to Conner and he does in the third with a right uppercut and Conner is counted out at 3:00 of the third.

Marcel Cerdan Jr 0-0-0-0 vs Jim Schultz 1-5-0-0

Cerdan started very good winning the first two rounds but was soundly beaten in the third and fourth. Scores 38-38 twice and 39-37 for Schultz. A majority draw. Cerdan outlanded Schultz 113-74

Bimbo Canaya 0-0-0-0 vs Cole Minshull 0-6-0-0

This was a first when the TC was favored over the debuting fighter, with that said Canaya went out and soundly beat Minshull. Scores 39-37 across the board. Canaya the busier of the two threw 427 punches to Minshulls 253 and outlanded Minshull 111-90.

Monty Bhana 0-0-0-0 vs Mark Warren 0-6-0-0

Bhana boxes beautifully and easily wins the decision scores 39-37, 40-36 and 38-38(Must have been watching another fight). Bhana outlands Warren 102-44. Give Warren credit he threw 570 punches in a four round bout but again bad thing is he only landed 44.

Policarpo Diaz 0-0-0-0 vs Steve Turner 0-6-0-0

Diaz looks good in his debut completely outboxing Turner, only drawback for Diaz is he suffered a bad gash over the left eye from a headbutt. Scores 40-37 twice and 39-37. Not alot of punches landed in this one 60-54 in favor of Diaz.

Fight Card 2

Ted Whitfield 0-0-0-0 vs Richard Barge 0-5-0-0

Whitfield looks very good in his debut as he easily outboxes Barge. Scores 40-36 across the board. Whitfield outlanded Barge 138-59.

Sakaria Ve 8-1-0-7 vs Jin Inoue 0-5-0-0

Ve making his debut on american soil, hopes to impress but looking at his shape for this bout that may not be the case. Ve has won 8 in a row since being kayoed in one round in his debut. Ve wins the first round with some impressive powershots. Inoue easily wins the second as he moves outside and is able to stay away from Ve's power and land some nice shots of his own. Inoue is not able to stay away from Ve in the third when Ve lands an incredible right hook and Inoue is counted out at 2:31 of the third. Impressive showing but for Ve to continue to look good he better get serious and come into fights in shape.

#30 Donald Curry 16-0-0-13 vs #40 Jeff Malcolm 16-0-1-1

The pre-prime slugging Curry and the pre-prime boxing Malcolm are both in excellent shape For this 8 rounder. Each man will be the best fighter the other has faced til this point in their careers. Curry is a 7-2 favorite coming into the bout. Curry looks impressive and drops Malcolm for a six count with a wicked left hook. Malcolm's right eye is already swelling as the round closes. Malcolm appears to be in for a long night. Curry is warned for a low blow. Curry wins the second round with some clean combos, Curry draws another warning for leaning on the neck of Malcolm. Curry wins the third as he drops Malcolm a second time this time for a three count, what is amazing is Curry is not able to land another punch after the knockdown. Curry wins another round as he continues to pound on Malcolm. Curry is warned again for low blows. It would be a shame if Curry gets himself disqualified. Malcolm may have actually won the fifth, His right eye is starting to get really ugly. Curry is back in control in the sixth and opens a huge gash over Malcolm's right eye. Curry comes out for the kill in the seventh and he is pasting Malcolm and to Malcolm's credit he is taking the punishment. A Curry hook opens another gash over Malcolm's left eye as the ringside doc examines the cut Malcolm's right eye is swollen shut and both gash's are bleeding heavily and the bout is stopped. Impressive showing by Curry. Talk about domination Curry outlanded Malcolm 220-70.

#32 Sugar Ray Leonard 15-0-0-14 vs #36 Troy Wortham 15-0-0-6

Both of these pre-prime Boxers are in great shape for this 8 rounder. Leonard is a 7-2 favorite coming into the bout. Leonard wins the first as he is definately the quicker of the two, the punches Wortham does land is to Leonard's body. Wortham takes the second as he is the busier of the two and lands some nice right hands. Leonard is back in control in the third landing some crisp counters but Wortham lands some great shots himself. Leonard wins the fourth with some quick damaging powershots. Leonard has a big fifth as a solid right hook drops Wortham for a five count. Wortham rises and takes a hell of a beating but withstands it. Leonard comes out confident in the sixth and a vicous uppercut drops Wortham for an eight count he rises and is being pummelled along the ropes as referee Jen-Kin jumps in to save Wortham from further punishment. Great win for Leonard.

#2 Thomas Hearns 26-0-0-25 vs # 28 Silvano Bertini 21-0-0-6

The prime slugging Hearns and the pre-prime boxing Bertini are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. Hearns is a 4-1 favorite coming into the bout. Great first round as both men stand and trade. Edge to Hearns as his punches are alot cleaner. Hearns has a huge second round as he tags Bertini repeatedly. Bertini cannot land a blow in the second. Hearns controls the third as neither man offers alot. Both men stand and trade in the fourth and both men land some great punches again the edge goes to hearns. I can't see Bertini holding up to the shots he's getting hit with. Hearns wins the fifth. Bertini is landing more punches but Hearns is definately landing the harder punches. Hearns with another huge round in the sixth. Bertini absorbs a wicked beating and his right eye is swelling badly as the sixth closes. Bertini looks spent as the seventh round gets under way. A slow paced round in the seventh that Hearns pulls out with a late rally. Hearns comes out fast in the eighth and a Hearns right cross drops Bertini for a five count, Bertini rises and is dropped again a few seconds later by another hook. This time Bertini is up at 8. Hearns comes forward and one more uppercut drops Bertini for the third time and the fight is waved off. Impressive win for Hearns and Bertini suffers his first defeat.

#1 Simon Brown 23-0-0-23 vs # 27 Louie Lomeli 17-0-0-16

The prime slugging Brown and the pre-prime slugging Lomeli are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. Brown is a 2-1 favorite. Great first round as both men forget about feeling out and go toe to toe, edge to Brown. Close second round as both men continue to trade, no clear cut winner. Both men are warned for leaning on the neck. What a fight both men continue to trade and land some heavy shots. again no clear cut winner. This bout will come down to who is conditioned better. Lomeli wins the fourth as he lands some heavy blows and hurts Brown with a great right hook. Wow Brown comes out in the fifth and with one right hook the bout is over. A wicked one punch knockout for Brown just as it seemed Lomeli was gonna turn it around. Great victory for Brown and Lomeli suffers his first defeat. Nothing for Lomeli to be ashamed of i'm sure he'll bounce back
