NFL Offseason Stuff
With free agency and the NFL Draft looming, all of the teams in the NFL will look to pick up the pieces they need to make a push for next year. Right now my favorite rumor is Asante Samuel being signed by the Eagles and Lito Sheppard being traded to the Patriots. I heard that on SI.com. As far as the draft goes, it is looking increasingly hard for any of the top ten picks to be traded, especially is the Cowboys have lost interest in Darren McFadden. Let's hope the Patriots find a suitor for the #7 pick and don't waste is on Vernon Gholston, ew.

I hope they don't "waste" it on him either.
I want him to fall to 9. Last edited by Big Hugg; 02-26-2008 at 03:01 PM. |

True, but that only makes him Jesus to Willis's God.
You best believe Big Vern is gonna have his own thread on here at some point. |

OSU players are almost always overrated heading into the NFL. He's sick, yes, but overrated.
My mock draft, by the way: 1- MIA - QB Matt Ryan 2 - STL - OT Jake Long 3 - ATL - DT Glenn Dorsey 4 - OAK - RB Darren McFadden 5 - KC - CB Mike Jenkins 6 - NYJ - DE Chris Long 7 - PHI (f. NE for Lito Sheppard, 1st, 4th) - DE Vernon Gholston 8 - DAL (f. BAL for both 1st) - OT Ryan Clady 9 - CIN - DT Sedrick Ellis #10 - NO - CB Leodis McKelvin #11 - BUF - CB Aqib Talib #12 - DEN - OT Jeff Otah #13 - CAR - WR Malcolm Kelly #14 - CHI - OT Chris Williams #15 - DET - RB Jonathan Stewart #16 - ARI - OT Sam Baker #17 - MIN - WR DeSean Jackson #18 - HOU - RB Rashard Mendenhall #19 - NE (f. PHI) - OLB/DE Derrick Harvey #20 - TB - CB Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie #21 - WAS - DE Calais Campbell #22 - BAL (f. DAL) - LB Keith Rivers #23 - PIT - OT Gosder Cherilus #24 - TEN - WR Mario Manningham #25 - SEA - RB Felix Jones #26 - JAX - DE Philip Merling #27 - SD - S Kenny Phillips #28 - BAL (f. DAL) - QB Brian Brohm #29 - SF - WR James Hardy #30 - GB - TE Fred Davis #31 - NYG - LB Dan Conner Last edited by Papi 54; 02-26-2008 at 03:46 PM. |

I don't see anything overrated about being the 2nd best player (and most versatile) at one of the most important positions on the field. If you want an overrated OSU NFL prospect go ahead and wait until next year when Laurinaitis goes somewhere in the 5-7 range overall. |

Apparently the Vikings have dealt WR Troy Williamson for Jacksonville for a 6th round pick. This could go down as steal of the year for the Vikings. I cant believe the vikings found someone stupid enough to take him.

I know he played in a 3-4 in college but I don't see him fitting in well with the Parcells 3-4 scheme at Miami. Parcells likes DE's in the 290-300 lbs range that take up space and blockers and it would actually be a total waste of Long's skills to play him there. Not sure he can make the transition to OLB in that scheme so it will be interesting to see if the Dolphins feel that he can. I definitely can't see the Rams, Falcons, and Raiders all passing on him. As far as the 49ers go, with receivers having little difference between them in the first, I could agree with them letting it slide to the later rounds, but who would they take at #29? OL? DB? |

I can't see Miami drafting a QB, although John Beck was hardly impressive when he played. Defense would probably be a good start for the Dolphins.
