Fan Interest in Major League game
I started a new "Major League Game" from the main menu and played as GM of the Rockies for about 2 years. I noticed that the fan interest was taking a serious hit with every trade that I made, especially with groups of minor leaguers.
It looks like the popularity of the players is skewed much too high relative to the fan interest level, especially at the minor league level. Every minor leaguer above 'A' level is at least well known, and many are extremely popular. Almost any trade will hurt the fan interest, and the eventual rise of popularity of the incoming players doesn't make up for the initial decline. The upshot? After season two of trades/ losing & signing free agents, I now have a talented team that has over 50% of its MLB roster rated at "extremely popular", which compiled the best regular season record in 2008 (lost in NLCS) and the fan interest level is 1!!!!! This has a huge impact on attendance & budget, not to mention my job security. Am I missing something, or is something seriously flawed here? I've played simulated MLB games many times in OOTP 2007 and never had this problem.
