Taylor - Pavlik PPV card spoilers

Kelly Pavlik vs Jermain Taylor = Pavlik late T/KO.

Nikolay Valuev vs White Wolf (Lyakhovich) = Valuev boring, wide UD.

Cristian Mijares vs Jose Navarro = Mijares Wide UD.

Fernando Montiel vs Martin Castillo = Montiel late T/KO

What do you think?

I think Pavlik/Taylor is a toss up but I would favor Pavlik. Depends on how Taylor responds to being KO'd. I think he will box more this time. Worst thing that happened to Taylor in the last fight was catching Pavlik in the second round. It was sort of like all the times you see a fighter score a first round knockdown and then lose the rest of the fight because they think they can do it again.

My ideal scenario for the fight is for Taylor to look really really good but lose.

That way Taylor goes to SMW with confidence and Pavlik remains the undefeated MW champ.

I concour. I think Kelly wins again, late KO. He has looked incredible in his training footage, I believe more healthy looking than the last fight. I hope JT's camp isnt overly counting on the 2nd round of the last fight; I dont believe that will happen again.

I also think Jermain has too many defensive holes to beat a guy like Pavlik, whose right hand is about as straight and snappy as it comes.

Agreed some very interesting fights -

The Montiel Vs Castillo should be an excellent chess match that could turn into a brawl

Pavlik Vs Taylor - Pick'em - But I would have to pick Pavlik - He is likely only getting better and Taylor best days below 168 are likely gone -

Mijares UD

Valuev UD

Castillo close UD

Taylor is easily drawn in to fighting his opponent's fight...Pavlik was able to draw him into a brawl the first time. This continually happens to Taylor and I believe it's his biggest weakness. We all know Pavlik is going to let his hands go - Jermain hasn't shown me in any recent fights (Wright, Hopkins) that he can stick to a plan rather than mirroring his opponent. For this reason I think Pavlik wins - even though I think Taylor is the more superior skilled boxer.

I forget who I heard say it or where I read this but Taylor said he wants to knock Kelly out & they said that would be a mistake with a puncher like Kelly if Taylor is looking/hoping for the KO.

Yeah that was exactly the point I was trying to make. Taylor tends to punch with the punchers and box with the boxers he faces....which feeds right into their hands. If he'd just stick to the gameplan and use his head he'd be better off.

After reading that Lyakhovich has weighed in at 250,8 - 10 pounds above what he has ever weighed before - i think Valuev will KO him.

I'll go with Taylor SD. I really believe he was too confident going into the last fight and will go back to his boxing this one.

From Fightnews.com

"Although Pavlik-Taylor will be a nontitle affair at 166lbs., the WBC will sanction the fight with the winner receiving a medal of honor."

They never miss an opportunity to collect a sanctioning fee.

The Whitewolf looks a tad soft to say the least.

Only an idiot would pay a sanctioning fee for a non-title bout.

after looking at the whitewolf, he will lose. The Giant looks in better condition.

I am looking forward to this one. I think Pavlik will win again but I expect to see a little more from Taylor this time around.

Great news guys! Were going to see a Chagaev/Valuev rematch. Yaaaaaaaay!

Now to be serious......can someone actually get Chagaev and Valuev actual promoters other than Sauerkraut and Brillo Head King? These two guys have been going in circles the last year and nothing is being solved.

My advice to the both of them would be is to dump those promoters and join up with either Universum or Arena-Box. At least you'll get decent fights against breathing opponents......even a possible unification bout.
