Heinsohn League wins 4th straight ABA crown...........

Gates Elliott's Hartford Hornets continued the Heinsohn League's mastery of the Kuffrey League in the ABA.

That's 4 straight ABA championships the Heinsohn can boast!!

Congrats to Gates and hist Hartford squad..............

And it's just a coincidence that the commish is a member of the Heinsohn Leauge too, huh? Riiiiiight.

Congrats Gates. And remember, 1991 will see the rise of the Kuffrey League.

Its a good thing we don't have interleague play.................then we'd show 'em!!

It really doesnt matter, all four ABA trophies are safely in the Heinsohn trophy case!!

As for the St.Paul Quackin' Ducks...aren't they the whipping boys of the HL?

Agreed..........but what about your St Louis River Chicken?

They arent exactly the Kuffrey King!!

And if they were the Kuffrey King, all that'd get them is a Runner's Up Trophy!!

Congratulations Gates! If it wasn't the Chicago Jackhammers, I'm glad your Hartford club took it.

All this talk of other teams in the ABA is diverting attention away from the most succesful Kuffrey League team in league history, the Ft. Worth Roadrunners.

Four straight post-season appearances. Three straight division crowns. A Kuffrey League Championship. Enduring support from ABA scribe Johnny Baseball. 'Nuf said.

Wow, all this attention from the Scranton Covered Wagons is making me wonder if my lopsided rivalry with Miami is going to be replaced next season. I guess getting late inning wins off of closer Todd "Firestarter" Lane was getting old anyway.

Miami Croc fans are calling for the head of manager Tony Perez following the teams disappointing four games to three loss in the 1990 ABA Championship Series at the hands of the Hartford Hornets. Most feel that Perez cost the club the 1990 ABA Championship by pulling star closer Todd Lane before the start of the 9th inning of Game 7 with a slim one run load over their opponents, the Hartford Hornets. Perez played it by the book and went to crafty journyman southpaw Sam Pitre, even though Lane is considered by many as the most dominant reliever in the ABA (except for LivnLegend, who prefers cross-dressing closer Henry 'The Hammer'™ Smith). Lane had a banner 1990, successfully converting 32 consecutive save opportunities before surrendering his only blown save of the year in the final week of the regular season while posting a 1.52 ERA and a 0.68 WHIP. He was also a perfect 6 for 6 in post-season save chances and did not allow a run in three playoff series. Lane had entered the game in the 8th inning to put out a fire, which he did so in short order, recording a pair of outs in only 7 pitches. Pitre promptly served up a game tying home run to Hartford slugger Rafael Camacho before surrendering the go-ahead Series-clinching run.

Miami management gave Perez a vote of confidence, indicating that he will return for a 5th season of managing the Crocs, and the team will try to negotiate an extension of Perez' original 5-yr contract over the off-season. Perez, pictured here at the 1989 ABA Awards Banquet receiving the 1989 ABA Manager of the Year Award, is 6th among ABA managers in career victories with 346 and sits only 11 victories behind the all-time leader, Rishis Vedas of the Buffalo Brahmas. He has led the Miami franchise to four consecutive playoff appearances, including 3 Kuffrey League East Division Titles from 1987-1989 and won the KL Wild Card this past season before advancing to the ABA Championship Series.

It'll be the Jackhammers next year. Well at the very least, some team from the Heinsohn...
