New to the game - A few questions

I have played the demo a bit, and have an interest in both boxing and sports simulations. Before I buy though, I was curious on how you guys *personally* play this game. Do most use it to simulate upcoming fights? Do you use it to set up tournaments and universes? And finally, when you set up a universe how much control do you have during fights? Can you “watch” fights within your universe without actually taking control of the fighters corner??

*whew*

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

check out Inside the Ropes for how some of us run our universes ... you can watch the fights with no involvement. The control you have is only in the corner with strategies and controlling what the cutman does.

I rarely do any of that but I watch a lot of fights in my uni.

When the new version (TBCB2.5) comes out you will have the ability to be one of the three judges also.

Welcome to the board.

Welcome to the community. Like Mike says, "Inside the Ropes" will give you a good idea of what you can do. Have fun.

This could probably warrant a new thread, but since I am still new to the game I suppose it would fit in here too

After playing around with the game a bit more and trying to set up a universe (Thanks to mh2365's great guide) I have run into a problem. I have imported a bunch of WW TC's (per mh2365's guide) into my custom universe and no matter what I do I cannot get the auto-scheduler to set fights between my WW Fighters and the TC's. Every time I pick one of my fighters for the Red Corner and one of the TC's, from the "TC" group I created, in the Blue Corner the auto-scheduler does not set up the fight. If I pick a different group (ie. Men) for the blue corner the scheduler sets up a fight, no problems at all.

I know that there must be some kind of rookie mistake I am making so if anybody has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

go to the fighter list screen and look at a guy using the FIGHTER tab . .it'll be the screen with the fields for name, date of birth, nation, etc.

In the lower right, there is a box "Include in auto schedules" . .be sure that is clicked

Note: In order to avoid having to click a lot of guys, you can select them from the list screen and use the Mass Change option (MENU in the upper right on the list screen)

Another possibility is that the tomato cans are set as active and you have selected retired in the auto-scheduler (or vice-versa). If you select all rather than retired or active in the scheduler it won't matter.

BTW - the nifty mass edit feature that Thunder correctly pointed out is sadly not available in version 2.0. Hopefully, you will all have it in version 2.5 in the very near term!

Welcome aboard.

we campaigned hard for mass change buttons in the new version and now there isn't much you can't mass change. Until then both answers are correct. It is either they are not marked for including in autoscheduler or they are set to active/retired and you are searching for the other.

If that wasn't in the guide I should probably include it although 2.5 makes starting a universe 100 times easier.

Also it is worth mentioning that if you have bought TBCB2 you will get a discount on 2.5.

Good to hear mh2365.....I am really enjoying 2.0 right now, so things can only get better! Thanks for the help....I will try some of the suggestions posted right when I get home!

BTW - I just got finished reading the "im new a few questions" thread. I suppose this is a bad time for me to mention my other favorite boxing game "onlineboxing."

No there is no problem mentioning it ... there was only a bit of a problem with that post because the poster bad mouthed our game a bit (or language barrier made it sound like he was).

I'd like to try online boxing but I can't get it to load ... the little FPS counter in the corner just keeps counting and none of the buttons work.

I'd like to try that other one too (can't think of the name) but since it is all in German I can't figure out what is going on.

I'm also looking forward to the console boxing game "Prizefighter" from 2K sports.
