East Indians in quick start
Saw this mentioned in a couple of threads I found via search, but in each case the thread was closed after no one seemed to have continuing problems.
Just bought OOTP8 and have begun a league using the major league quick start. Haven't changed anything, other than moving old jerseys/logos/caps/etc. over from earlier versions. I notice that practically every American player is East Indian (may BE every player, but I didn't check them all). |

If you start a new test league, do you see the same issue?

No. It must be the Quick Start. Thanks!

If you use the Quick Start to create another league, does it happen again?

If I create a new league using the major league quick start, the Caucasians are all East Indians. If I use one of the other two supplied quick starts, this does not happen.

Is it just the caucasians who are East-Indian? Are the Asians and Africans and Hispanics coming out as they should?

I hadn't noticed anyone else coming out "wrong." Let me look.
Examples: the Braves Rookie League roster has a couple of Hispanics, an African and an Asian, no Caucasians, everyone else is East Indian. Dodgers' A-league team: handful of Hispanics, coupla Africans and Asians, everyone else is East Indian. I could keep looking, but I'm sure I'll find the same thing. The Caucasians in the major-league quick start included with the game seem to be 100% East Indians. Or rather, there are no Caucasians and there are lots of East Indians. |

Well, I know that it might be a bit of an inconvenience, but could you try doing a full reinstall of OOTP8, version 8.0.0.13 to see if any new games created show the same problem? Perhaps your copy of the quick start was damaged in some way.

Uninstalled, reinstalled 8.0.0.13, created a new major league game which loaded the quick start, checked half a dozen players on the Giants roster ... Aurilia, Bonds, Cain, Durham, all East Indian.

Er, this may be an odd workaround, but could you try copying the ethnicities.dat file from one of your non-quick start leagues into your test quick start .lg folder, then re-generate photos? Does that fix it?

They are still East Indians.
Is this not something you can replicate? Am I the only one with the problem? Doesn't bother me, really, since I usually go for fictional leagues. Just puzzling is all. |

Lemme check the Giants. Let's assume that the same nationalities are used for both of us. All of the players that you listed are East Indian. Huh. You know, enough of the Hispanic and East Indian guys look Caucasian that I wouldn't have noticed the issue without using the editor.
I guess that no one bothered to use fictional photos with these real players before. |
