Range factor / Runs saved
Has anyone out there come up with a rough idea of how to correlate ootpb fielding data with any kind of a runs saved value? Sort of a Vorp for defense? I realize that this will be very rough, as range factor and feilding pct. are not great stats- but I still think this would be usefull. Also, anyone have any idea if the linear fielding weights hold up within ootpb? I'm guessing this will be almost impossible to figure out without the hit locations being easily accessable, but I'm just hoping someone may have some data on it.

I'm not sure if Fielding Runs is the same stat, but it seems awfully similar. All the stats needed to calculate such a stat are presented in OOTP, I believe. Here are the formulas for various positions.
I'm no MS Excel expert, so I wouldn't know of the ease at which it could be calculated automatically. |
