On Reserve roster, wins R.O.M and B.O.M.
Just got these two news items. Galindo is actually on my Industriales Reserve roster. In fact, he has never appeared on the Active Roster. I raised this in another thread and Raidergoo said it needed reporting here - so here it is!
[BSunday, January 1st, 1995: Zona Occidental Names Rookie of Month In December, Luis Galindo knocked Zona Occidental pitchers all over the ballpark all month long and put up numbers good enough to be voted the Rookie of the Month. Last month the 22-year-old Industriales shortstop played in no games and hit .000 with no doubles, no triples and no home runs. Galindo also scored 0 times and drove in 0 runs. Sunday, January 1st, 1995: Luis Galindo Winner in Zona Occidental Luis Galindo let his bat do the talking in December and the Zona Occidental heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .000 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month. Galindo's month-to-remember saw him accumulate no hits, no home runs, no RBI, 0 runs, no walks and a .000 on-base percentage. |

Which version of the game were you using?
In the Statistics page of your league, are any players listed when you select the Qualified Rookies dropdown? Basically, do you have any players actively playing in your league who would qualify for the award? |

I'm using the latest patch. And all teams had full rosters, so there would have been plenty of players who would have qualified.

Are you absolutely certain that there were qualified rookies? Could you please check the Statistics page as requested, just to be certain? |

Sorry to be dense! It's OOTP8, patch 8.0.0.12. In the "Qualified Rookies" drop down there were 2 players listed in various categories, both of whom seem to have been everyday players for their clubs.

A pitcher and batter for each sub league (assuming that you have two)?

Yes, more than one possible candidate, hitter & pitcher, in each sub-league.

Were they late season callups? This happens to me on occasion, but only when I call up people late in the season and when they haven't actually done anything.
I tend to call up guys with better overall potential than your average prospect, just to get them some playing time, but they end up sitting the bench. I can't say for certain that it always happens exactly like this, but from what I can remember, when it has happened to me, it goes like this: Normal awards through the first part of the season, then I call up some great prospect with very high potential to replace an injured or underperforming player. He then hits the roster and does nothing for a month, but is given at least one award, usually R.O.M. He will keep winning awards if he doesn't play. I think. I was trying to figure this bug out once. What was causing it. I think it may either have been some guy who was doing great in the minors and their stats somehow conflicting with the Major League awards, the game giving it to him because of his high potential rating, or simply one of the following two things might be true: 1. He replaces someone with good stats and the game thinks he is that player. 2. He remains winning awards as long as he never plays. Like the bug is triggered by being in the majors and not playing. I will have to look into it more. You aren't alone Tyke, but I could never figure out how it was triggered. I never had it happen early in the season and I know it didn't happen for me unless I called someone up. There were definetly enough rookie qualifiers, even on my own team. |

No, the guy who was given the awards has never been on the Active roster - and as I'm not playing with any Minor Leagues, he wasn't accumulating stats there. It's also a Cuban League, which starts in November, sothese awards were for the second month of the season.

So we know it isn't caused by previous stats, but one of the other things might hold up. I couldn't come to a conclusion before when I was looking at the bug. |

No, I didn't add anyone. The guy was taken in the first year player draft in June of 1994 and stayed on the Reserve Roster. After the start of the season, in November 1994, there were no roster moves on the team before these awards were announced.

Well then it might be having a guy on the reserve roster. I mean technically me adding a guy to my active roster will place him on the reserve anyway. So that doesn't change anything.
For some odd reason, mine always come for new players that are just added to the roster (Reserve Roster also). i simply have minors, so I don't add a guy unless I need him since I don't want more contracts to deal with. So I guess the bug is triggered off the reserve roster. That is a start. I don't know if anyone else has it besides you and I though. It has happened to me at least 3 times. |

Thanks for your input, frosticle. It's the first time it's happened to me, but I'll certainly keep a look out and see if something on the reserve roster triggers it.

Is there something that I can/should log here? Does anyone have any idea how to reproduce the issue yet?

I got it on 2007. Now have it on 8. Both patched all the way up, using different rosters. I just got it picking up a rookie right fielder in a trade, who had been playing all season. His numbers were crap, but he won two straight B.O.M and R.O.M, with all his numbers at 0. Then my middle reliever, that I just called up won P.O.M. and it said he was a starter, despite the fact that he isn't and isn't even a closer. All 0s for numbers as well.. My best guess, even though I still have no clue, is that the game thinks the guy who held the roster spot last is this new guy. It seems to happen after I add a guy from the minors, trade, or free agency. Perhaps the game still thinks that the previous guy holding the spot is still there and is handing out awards to the wrong guy. Just a guess. This has happened across two games for me. I can't believe only two of us have the issue when I have had it on two clean installs using completely different rosters. |

Nutlaw, this happened just the once for me, in OOTP8, most recent patch, but I've been unable to figure out any triggers for me. The guy on the reserve roster had not been moved, there had been no roster moves within the club. So unless anyone else sees this & can pinpoint what caused it, I'm afraid I can't shed any more light.

Closing this one out until someone can pinpoint it further. If you do have any more information, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support.
