No chance? Ask the Vegas oddmakers, ask the majority of the "experts" at ESPN. I'd say we have a pretty good chance. With that said...I'm betting against the Vikings (with and without the spread) . Hoping I'm wrong though.

I've got the beer and pizza ready. Pretty excited for tonight's game, and I'm not even a fan of either team.

Can't say it was surprising.

OMG!! Jackson is 8-3 as a Starting QB. He is totally the future!?!?!?//1/1///!oneoneoenoneoenoen. It was totally Shiancoe's fault that he fumbled the ball. If it wasn't for the Longwell's missed FG we'd have won it...the refs blew the safety call...OMG OMGOMGOMG...where else can the blame go?

Other than Childress being a complete DB and Jackson a shizay QB...can't look elsewhere. Seven pro bowlers and the team can't make the playoffs. Gotta look at QB and coaching...

Obviously Jackson was not good at all in the first half, and the coaching was not very good early on either, but you can't place the blame squarely with them. The defense couldn't stop Todd Collins... they could not get 3 & outs throughout the game, and they couldn't make stops late in the game (3rd & 5, the offense can't be able to convert running the ball up the middle)... they didn't force any turnovers. There was no running game. 4th and 1 near midfield and we can't convert it. Marcus McCauley couldn't cover anyone all game. The whole team played very poorly... Jackson was certainly a part of it, but you can't put the blame on his shoulders alone.

I'm not sure what your 2nd paragraph is about.

I'm not a Viking's fan, and hardly ever watch their games, so can someone tell me.... does their secondary always look/play that bad?

Aside from handful of games lately, yes.

My second paragraph equates to: How do you have seven Pro Bowlers, and not make the playoffs?

They stopped them on the first drive. What does Jackson do? PICK!
They stopped them on the second drive. What does Childress do? SAFETY!
They give up a TD when Collins just made a nice play and fooled Sharper (I think it was). TD.

That is 3 drives in 12:30 that the defense is on the field.

Vikings have the ball, Vikings? 3 and out. Foolish pass to Williamson who wasn't across the marker. Sure, Williamson's fault too, but you can't throw the ball to a guy that isn't across the line completely.

Vikings D stops them then the Vikings get called for a penalty on the return and lose 10 yards.

What does the offense do? Jack ****. They're on the 48 and and other than a slant (that will be jumped yet this year)...penalty which puts Longwell into a LOONG FG.

Alread 9-0 and the 'Skin have the ball back.

Possession count Skins: 5
Possession count 4 with two lasting 3 plays, total:

Count the time Peterson is running the ball: 2

Sid Hartman's quoting John Madden. I think it's Madden's way of saying Jackson sucks.

The first pass was really bad, I agree.
The safety is Childress' fault? Yes, the defense stopped them, but only in the broadest sense of the word. The started at the 1 inch line... the fact that they lose yardage on a FB Dive isn't the coach's fault. That's bad execution.
Right, bad defense. Hard to blame Sharper getting fooled on Jackson or Childress, no?

I'm not trying to say that Jackson played well throughout the game... he was obviously really bad in the first half. But he's not the only reason they lost. It's hard to get a ton of touches for Peterson when you're constantly facing 2nd & long and 3rd & long because you are having NO success on first down. Childress tried to establish Peterson, but when there is 8 in the box and absolutely no running lanes, that's tough.

Again, I'm not saying this was Jackson or Childress' finer moments or a game that will go in either's highlight reel (well, maybe the 2nd half for Jackson)... but this was a total team effort in losing. Washington just outplayed us across the board.

They outplayed us...definitely. They outcoached us...DEFINITELY.

Collins played extremely well. MacCauley is a backup CB...can't expect him to make every play. I don't think you can blame MacCauley completely for that HB Toss TD. It's not something you see every day and it's not something you practice.

Jackson is a terrible QB because he can't throw the ball. Childress is a terrible coach because he puts all his faith in a QB who can't throw the ball and doesn't change his game plan until it was much too late.

You're right...Jackson isn't the sole reason the Vikings lost today. But he is a pretty big piece of the puzzle. I'd put a lot on Childress and him as the reason the Vikings are going to finish 8-8, out of the playoffs and yet still have seven pro bowlers. If we had a QB that had the threat of an arm...teams couldn't play 8 guys in the box. Teams couldn't play to stop the run.

Take away the 9 points off the Jackson turnovers, give the Vikings a FG because you know Longwell would have made it if not for the penalty...who wins the game? I know you can't look back and say that, but those two INTs absolutely KILLED us and anything we had going for us.

Can't blame that first half on Jackson and Childress... left at least 14 points on the board.
