Simming and save hang-ups

I download the demo for 2007 simming was super slow but liked the game and thought full version would speed things up. I got OOTP 2007 ,immediately updated to the new patch 2.0.2. I started a fic. league with 16 teams in 2 sub leag., AAA, AA, A, and coll. and HS feeder leagues. From the start simming will hang up in between days for 2-3 minutes. This makes going through a season a very lengthy process. I'm not even managing a team yet also just simming to get the league rolling. I have a 3gz dual core system with 1gb of ram running XP media center ATI X1950 video card. During the simming my processor usage is 3-4% and using about 53-54% of memory. I use 38-51% of memory just in windows so the games only a small %. I save after the first year, which took 1and1/2 hours in sim time to get to not managing a team, and that takes 7 min. I'm concern cause it gets 73% rather quickly but then hangs there for 6 min not processing anything. Sorry for the narrative but i feel i have a powerful computer to be running a much deeper league in a reasonable amount of time. Help please.

Just to check, first of all: how many high school/college feeder leagues do you have? From your post it sounds like only one of each but it's technically possible to have dozens, which would obviously affect any advice I might give regarding performance.

PS> Looks like you posted about this three times, so I'm going to close the other two threads. Should keep things a little clearer.

Could you please try installing the latest patch and let us know if you still have the trouble?

My bad I thought 2.0.2 was the final, shows how much I know. Anyways even with the new patch it runs just the same. It seems the sim pauses are very gradually coming less and less though. It just took 7 mins to save, I don't know is this normal seems like it shouldn't be. I'm not exporting anything and i'm not saving news, trans, inj. etc.

Don't know if this is the same, but just read a post from one of our beta testers with the same sort of problem. A subsequent post says he's decided it's something to do with his virus scanner. Don't know anything past that, but if you have one running you might try disabling and see if that speeds it up... and if so maybe someone who knows can help from there.

I don't have a virus scanner. I run a lite system. Still the scouting and the save in between years takes a little over a 30min. How long is around normal?

Much less time than that. You are playing this as a solo league and not as an on-line one, right?

There may be something unusual about your saved game. Have you tried running another, smaller league just to test out how that runs?

Yeah a solo league. I have tried many different formats. All with the same result. The game would be much more enjoyable if I could get it quicker in between years.

Have you tried defragmenting your hard drive and checking it for errors?

I've defraged, and checked the disk for errors. The game still runs the same. Someone has a post about slow saves on vista. We have the same occurrence of the saves hanging up at "73% Messages" for up to 10-15min. Which is strange cause I have XP. So the problem doesn't seem OS related. Anyways, on his post they say select "run as administrator". Doesn't work.

I forget the exact term for it, but do you have Windows cataloging your files for later reference?

I have Windows XP Media Center as well, so I know for certain that that isn't your problem.

You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game and patches. Every once in a while, something gets messed up during those processes.
