Question: Minor league manager personal messages
Hey all. First post!!!
![]() Bought this game about six months ago and have recently gotten into it. I'm extremely amazed by its depth and complexity. I also apologize in advance if the following question has been asked before. I did a quick search and didn't find anything relevant. In my current game, I'm working my way up the minor league management ranks. My basic approach is to set line-ups/rotation and auto-play until injuries/DTD, personal messages or the end of the month (though I practiced with every week last season). With injuries and messages for roster changes, I thought this would be a frequent enough interval to check things. What I've noticed is that the ML general manager does not always send a message when making a change. This results in the occasional surprise when a starter is off the roster or I've had a hot prospect for quite a while but haven't given him the chance he possibly deserves. Is this a bug or designed? If it's designed, is it configurable? Any ideas about how I can work around this apart from the checking the roster every day? Thanks for your feedback. |

Under the Manager Menu, under the Manager Options Tab, there are manager options for:
Setting Lineups/Depth/Pitching Staff Roster Moves (Demotions, promotions, etc) Minor Leauge Transactions Minor League Lineups/Depth/Pitching Initiate and React to trades. Next to each is the ability to select your manager name or the computer manager. Maybe choosing your manager name for these options will help your problem. I usually play out each game and watch my team really close, so I'm not sure. |

Not sure how many here play things out as minor league managers- I gave up the few times I tried because of the frustration of losing players all the time. Every time I have played as minor league manager, I've gotten a message about promotions and demotions, however, so the behaviour you're seeing sounds like a bug to me. I very much doubt it's intentional. I haven't tried acting as a minor league manager in any of the recent patches- hopefully it's not a bug that's crept in.
The messages about promotions and demotions should count as 'personal messages', so you should receive them automatically, no matter what settings you've chosen- there's no way to turn personal messages off. |

Thanks for the initial responses, folks.

Funnily enough, most of those options seem to be disabled in the minors when commissioner mode is turned off. ![]() Quote:

I remember when I used to play as minor league manager, in my demented days, that I would have to scan the transactions log daily. That I remember clearly. I don't remember my evil AI GM boss ever sending me a polite message every time he laid waste to my roster . . .

I just got a message saying 2 players were demoted to me in AAA and 1 was promoted to the majors. It turns out there were 2 players demoted and 2 players promoted.
Though I always remember getting a message when at least one player was promoted or demoted. Last edited by realplayeremailhere; 11-18-2007 at 04:28 AM. |
