Question about scouting

How do you find scouting reports for players in this game. I was browsing the boards reading about the ratings and everything for the players, but I realized that I don't think I've ever seen a scouting report for my players. I seem to remember in previous versions of the game that the reports were just text summerizing the player's skills by your scouting department. If anyone could help me find these in the game, or at least has any idea what I'm talking about, I would greatly appreciate it.

Scouting is different in this version. My last version was OOTP 6, and it took me a little while to get used to the new way. First, you need to scout your own team with your scouts, or you won't have any data at all except for your head scout. He will automatically rescout your team on the first of each month.

Go to your scouts from your manager homepage. Then select each scout and go to his task screen. From there you can assign him to any task. In the beginning of the first season, I set each of my scouts to scout my entire organization. That takes a little over a month.

Each scout will send you a report listing your top ten current players and top ten prospects. Don't worry, all the players will have been rated, too.

When all the scouts have reported back, you can look at all your players and see how each scout rates them by choosing the scouting screen.

Hope that helps, its easier to do than it sounds.

Thanks a bunch for giving my a heads up about the new scouting system. It is totally different but it does seem to be a great system. One more question while I'm thinking of it, I was looking over the forums earlier and saw something about global scouting so you could sign kids from the D.R. and other countries. I remember hearing about having to turn on global scouting but I can't find that anywhere in the game options.

If you want to do international scouting, you have to be sure 'hidden players' are on (the option is somewhere in Game Setup, and it's called 'Create and Maintain Hidden Players'). Hidden Players are a very different thing from Ghost Players, by the way. Unfortunately, the option to turn on Hidden Players is *only* available when you first create a league, so if you turned it off during league creation, you can't turn it back on. If you made a fictional league from scratch, however, and didn't turn this option off, it is normally on by default, so you may be able to use the feature- try, from the Manager menu, going to 'Explore World', choose a country, and check if a scouting tab is available from the Nation page, bottom right.

I`m using cubbyfan`s 08 roster pack, Is international scouting enabled in it? I`ve tried the explore world tab. I can scout individual players one at a time. I guess my question is can I assign personnel to scout an entire country and then post a report on all the players in that country? Thnx

I'm almost certain international scouting is off in the Cubbyfan set- it was in the 2007 version, at least. If 'scout nation' is not available when you go to a country page (from Manager --> Explore World), then hidden players are turned off.
