Importing historical figures in a custom league
Hey everyone,
I have been playing around with OOTP 5 and I have hit a road-block on one of the aspects. Basically what I want to do is start a custom league and use historical players to fill out the rosters. Here are the steps that I have taken: - Create a custom league (making sure that the players are set to NONE) - Make any other adjustments I need in the "League Creation Options" screen I then go to the "Free Agents" screen, click on "Import player from database" and add the historical players that I want to add. Now, I know how to import one player at a time from Lahman's database, but how would I be able to import more than one player at a time? That's where I am having the problem. I would like to import teams as a whole, for instance: import the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals, 2004 Boston Red Sox, the 1927 New York Yankees, the 1946 St. Louis Cardinals, the 1948 Cleveland Indians, etc... That way, I have players ranging from the early 1900s to present day. Does anyone know of a way to import teams as a whole or am I stuck with importing one player at a time. If not, is there a way anyone can create an add-on to do the needful? Thank you very for anyone who can answer this question. Take care. |

Ok, I was able to import team by team, but once I have all the players in the Free Agent pool, how do I run a draft to sign those players? I want to be able to control one team and the computer controls the other 11 teams and drafts according to its needs.
I just don't see an option to do that. Can anyone please help me? Just a reminder, I had set up a Custom League and not a Historical League so I don't know where the option could be. |

I have never tried to do what you are doing, so I am not sure if my answer is correct or not.
I believe that your problem could be caused by the starting date of your league's season (accessed through the Schedule Editor, I believe). For your first year you should set it to January 1st so it is before the date of the draft (and the period when the teams sign coaches). If you do this you will need to set the date to April 1st (or whatever date is shown currently) when your first season ends or you cannot move to the next year. If this does not work, your problem might be that the players have been imported as free agents and not players eligible for the draft. If this is the case, I don't have a possible solution. Regardless of what you do or try, you should make a back-up of your league before you do too much so that you do not lose all of your work so far. Good luck. |

I don't believe that you can have a draft as you see it at this point, you can have each team sign players one by one w/ you doing the "drafting". But as far as the teams doing it via a draft I don't know that it is possible as you have set it up.

How do you go about...
I'm looking for files for an OOTP 5 league. We'd like to start with the newest, most current ML players. What files should I use to create the farm systems, and teams, Rosters etc....
Any suggestions and places to find these files would be huge. Thanks TK |
