Pinch Runner problems

I have two problems that may actually only be one.

My LF was ejected from the game after a brawl where he was hit with a pitch and when I brought in a PH, the field screen showed the original LF still batting (he was hit when the count was 2-1) but the batting order screen showed the PH. On defense following the 1/2 innning, the substitute was on the field screen as well.

In another game, later, I went to use a pitcher as a pinch hitter - I was going to pull my pitcher and bring in a reliever, but it was a bunt situation and the reliever was a higher rated bunter. The game would not let me do it. In both the filed and order screen, the pitcher remained. But, I never went to the sub screen between innings. Instead, it took me to the defensive field screen and the reliever was pitching.

Any ideas?

The problem is that the only way to use a pitcher in ANY role other than pitcher is to actually change his position using the player editor to a position player.
