Difficulty Setting in Manager Mode

What does the Difficulty setting in Manager Mode affect? Is it really just how strict the owner would be with you, or does it affect other stuff as well. Thanks in advance for the info.

From what I read around here, it mainly effects the chances of you getting fired for performing poorly....If it influenced other aspects of the game, especially performance, than that would unfavorably skew the stats....
