Red Sox - Rockies World Series

I thought this was going to be a tough series for me to know who to cheer for.

I have family in Boulder, and tickets were cheap and easy to get when I visited them this summer. I saw more Rockies games this year in person than I've seen Red Sox games since 2000.

While I was there, the Rockies were close in the Division race, so they were exciting games. However, I went with a few crowds that were less than 10,000 people. In Coors Field, it seems empty. To be fair, despite being heralded as such great fans, I've been to Fenway Park with crowds less than 10,000 as well, as recent as September of last year.

The Rockies have an amazing lineup. Tulo, Holliday, Helton, Atkins and Hawpe are going to be hard to stop. The pitching I saw aside from Francis was very shaky. But that looks to have changed in the last month and a half.

I like the Rockies a lot. But I've cheered for the Red Sox all my life, back to when Hall of Famer Wade Boggs was a rookie fighting for a position with Carney Lansford. This has been an amazing year and the only time I've ever felt doubt about this team was a dark moment on a Wednesday night when Paul Byrd looked like Cy Young. Even tho Dan Shaugnessy and the rest of the Boston media kept telling me how this team was going to fade and fail whether we had fallen behind Cleveland in the ALCS or when we only had a 6-1/2 lead over the Yankees, I've never doubted this team.

Or, in short: Go Red Sox!

Win me one more before I leave my home team behind.

I don't have a lot of emotional interest invested in this, but I am pulling for the Rockies simply because they've never won it and Boston did so pretty recently. I like seeing new teams at the top of the heap. I rooted pretty strongly for Boston in 2004 (I was living in Providence, RI, at the time, which helped), but this time I am reluctantly rooting against them.

I actually would have had a harder time picking a team if the Indians had advanced, since it's been so long for them.

Any chance of me rooting for Boston was thrown out the window when Larry Lucchino tried to paint them as some small market team earlier this week.

"They have the benefit of the largest market in the Western world. We have to compete with them, but they are tens of millions of dollars higher than us. It is inappropriate to lump us with them. It is the Yankees out there and 29 other teams in the next category. We want to be the little engine that could."

Give me a break.

Ahh, that explains them having what, the 2nd highest payroll, because they're only a small team.

Im just rooting for them to pitch Wakefield in Coors and see if it moves, or what it does. And I guess, LETS GO ROCKIES!!!

I've been a Red Sox fan all my life so I'm for the Sox but I also spent 5 years out in Colorado driving the over night Taxi in Durango so I listened to a lot of Rockies games on the radio.

Hope it's competitive.

If I weren't a Red Sox fan, I'd have rooted for the Indians. If I weren't a Red Sox fan, I'm not sure I'd root for the Rockies. Maybe, but I don't find them as compelling, in story or substance, as the Indians.

I used to kind of like the Red Sox, but after seeing them fellated by the national media nonstop for the past few years, my like has turned to dislike and then hardened into hatred. There are now three teams that I would like see destroyed by nuclear missile: the Yankees, the Marlins, and the Red Sox. I'm not looking forward to seeing the announcers go gaga over all the celebrities rooting on the Sox at Fenway. Do we really have to see the camera pan to Stephen King every game?

So yeah, go Rox.

I understand why a lot of people would be rooting for the Rockies. I probably would be too if the Indians had won.

It will be interesting to see how the rockies pitchers can handle the sox offense. We're not talking about a bunch of young inexperienced guys like Arizona has.

Anyone count how many times they showed Mark Shapiro during the Cleveland/Boston series? It was a lot.

The Red Sox only look like the "good guys" when you compare them against the Yankees, so surely Lucchino would have to keep talking about the Yankees.

The quote would have made a tiny bit sense if there were no wild card, and the two teams are competing for one playoff spot.
