Reassigning Coaches

I am new to the game, and I want to hire some new coaches, but I want to place them at my AAA farm team, and demote my current coaches to AA. The problem is I don't see anyway to do that. The manual says I should be able to, but all I see is the ability to change the manager/coach to another position on the same team, or to put them on one of the ML teams positions. Am I doing something wrong?

I can take a player from my major league personel page and place them anywhere in the organization, but I'd rather not have to juggle my coaches from AAA to a ML spot then back down to the AA roster. Please let me know if there is a step or setting I am missing.

No, you're not missing anything- unfortunately the only way to do what you want is to promote the guys to the Majors first, then demote them again. Problem is, once they're in the Majors they may refuse any demotion. It's awkward, and hopefully will be remedied in next year's game.

Breeze, that's pretty much the way you have to go about it, unfortunately. There is the added hindrance that coaches may refuse to be demoted.

The game's been criticized on this aspect and the fact that you cannot negotiate with a prospective coach to see if he is interested in your organization without having a job opening ready for him. So, you must fire somebody, approach the prospect, and likely be told that he's not interested in the job.

How to do it:

You want Bob AA to be your AA Hiiting coach but he's in AAA
Currently Joe Majors is your Major League Hitting coach which is perfect
Ed AAA is currently in AA as the hitting coach. You want him in AAA

1. Promote Bob AA to the Majors. This sends Joe majors to AAA.
2. Then go to AA and promote Ed AAA to the Major League level. Now you have Bob AA in AA, but Ed AAA is at the Major League level.
3. Finally, Go back to AAA and re-promote Joe Majors back to the Majors.

Now you have:

Bob AA as your AA hitting coach
Ed AAA as your AAA hitting coach
Joe Majors as your Major League hitting coach

By doing everything as a series of promotions, you can avoid any refusal to be demoted.
