Good god. I swear my team is destined to never win a pennant. My recent run has been a ton of close but no cigars, and I finally get some ok pitching and...
Hack Wilson - Injured on 7/29/1932 with a Ruptured Achilles Tendon, out for entire career... 32, 3rd in career HR. 18th in career BB already. Was going to be top-20 or better in Runs, RBI. .905 career OPS. Franchise record holder in HR, RBI, Runs and walks (AL record there too).

So yeah, needless to say, it's rebuild time.
I'll consider offers on studs Carew, Kuenn, Terry, Pagnozzi, Buice, O'Neal and Miller Looking for young players back.

They're first in all of BaTTY in average and runs scored AND are also first in BaTTY in ERA and opponents average (and runs allowed of course). Their run differential: 602 FOR, 374 AGAINST. That's sick. Scott Strickland and Frank Funk are both 17-2 and have sub-three ERAs. Funk is the league-leader with a 2.30 mark (Strickland's at 2.84). The Brooks also have the league's top hitter (catcher Earl Smith, .370) and power-threat (first baseman Frank Chance, 20). And they're actually UNDER their Pythag. record (by one game)! With a sixteen-game cushion over the Cubbies, it looks like the NL race is over already.

Yeah - I woke up this morning and saw I was in 2nd. Great!
Then I saw I was 16 back...good God almighty... Sucks about Hack Wilson though. I remember having an amazing pitcher in Joe's 20CC league with the Phillies, who blew out his arm after 10 great seasons. Broke my heart. Cubs are now ranked 8th in Team Systems - which is good considering we've been around 14th-16th for the last few years (mostly because I've had to use my prospects straightaway). |

World Series pits the Browns (91-63) vs. the Dodgers (104-50)...seems like the perfect setup for the Browns to lose their sixth straight Series.

The Browns beat the odds - and the Dodgers - to win the 1932 BaTTY World Series, four games to two.
The 1933 draft pool is an interesting one - there's finally a pitcher worth chosing with the #1 pick (which belongs to the Giants). That'd be a fellow by the name of Lefty Grove. In fact, this draft class is probably the deepest in pitching that we've seen in a loooong time. Grove is head-and-shoulders above the rest, but there are a lot of good arms in the pool. Hitting-wise, there's some guy named Musial heading up the list of non-pitchers. I suspect he's going to be pretty good. All things considered it's not a great class, but the top handful of players chosen should all be difference-makers.

Pitching in the draft is a GOOD thing, if the Giants don;t take Grove with the #1 and go for Musial then Lefty is definitely a Red, either way with #2 we get a good/great pitcher Allen.........which is nice
even if its bit of a stretch with his movement rating an 8 with a talent of 5 and age 26...........

1933 Amateur Draft
No huge surprise as Lefty Grove was the first player chosen (though the Giants did give a loooong thought to taking Stan Musial with that initial choice). The Reds also chose a pitcher, tapping Johnny Allen with their choice, and leaving the best position player in the draft, the aforementioned Musial, to fall to the White Sox at #3 - an absolute steal for the South Siders.
The Athletics grabbed "Sir" Hugh Duffy, another tremendously talented OFer with shortstops Joe Sewell and Jim Fregosi going fourth and fifth respectively. No real sleepers in this draft as the talent thinned out considerably beyond the top eight or so players. After the top two picks were spent on pitchers, on two of the remaining fourteen first-rounders were used on pitching with Monk Dubiel going 8th to the Tigers and the Yankees using their pick (14th overall) on reliever Randy Myers in a surprising pick. Round 1: New York (N) pick: P Lefty Grove Cincinnati pick: P Johnny Allen Chicago (A) pick: LF Stan Musial Philadelphia (A) pick: RF Hugh Duffy Cleveland pick: SS Joe Sewell Philadelphia (N) pick: SS Jim Fregosi Pittsburgh pick: LF Ted Savage Detroit pick: P Monk Dubiel Washington pick: RF Paul O'Neill St. Louis (N) pick: 2B Tony Piet Boston (A) pick: LF Dave Collins Boston (N) pick: LF Coaker Triplett Chicago (N) pick: 1B Ray Webster New York (A) pick: P Randy Myers St. Louis (A) pick: C Frank House Brooklyn pick: SS Tony Smith Round 2 : New York (N) pick: CF Earl McNeely Cincinnati pick: LF Duane Walker Chicago (A) pick: RF Bobby Kielty Philadelphia (A) pick: RF Dan Dobbek Cleveland pick: 3B Russ Davis Philadelphia (N) pick: C Mike Tresh Pittsburgh pick: 2B Pete Coscarart Detroit pick: C Glenn Borgmann Washington pick: RF Jacob Cruz St. Louis (N) pick: P Tommy Greene Boston (A) pick: P Rick Reed Boston (N) pick: SS Frank O'Rourke Chicago (N) pick: C Tom Lampkin New York (A) pick: SS Henry Easterday St. Louis (A) pick: SS Mike Caruso Brooklyn pick: SS Jimmy Sexton Round 3 : New York (N) pick: 1B Rich Murray Cincinnati pick: C Fergy Malone Chicago (A) pick: P Charlie Getzein Philadelphia (A) pick: 2B Jim Connor Cleveland pick: P Matt Morris Philadelphia (N) pick: 1B Burt Hart Pittsburgh pick: SS Mike Fischlin Detroit pick: P Dave Roberts Washington pick: CF Terry Jones St. Louis (N) pick: CF Sil Campusano Boston (A) pick: C Hal Peck Boston (N) pick: P Jose Guzman Chicago (N) pick: P Watty Lee New York (A) pick: P Rob Gardner St. Louis (A) pick: P Red Barrett Brooklyn pick: C Byrd Lynn Round 4 : New York (N) pick: P Bill Pleis Cincinnati pick: P Jeff Jones Chicago (A) pick: C Frank Bruggy Philadelphia (A) pick: C Dann Bilardello Cleveland pick: SS Skeeter Webb Philadelphia (N) pick: P Ned Garver Pittsburgh pick: P Ken Tatum Detroit pick: P Eric Rasmussen Washington pick: P Wally Bunker St. Louis (N) pick: 2B Al Niemiec Boston (A) pick: C Benny Bengough Boston (N) pick: P Steve Reed Chicago (N) pick: P Ace Adams New York (A) pick: P Lum Harris St. Louis (A) pick: P Dave Campbell Brooklyn pick: LF Ron Shepherd

Just wondering if were gona follow the historical park dates?
Playing in Navin Field till 1937 than the Tigers moved to Briggs Stadium 1938 than of course Tiger Stadium in 1961. All three were on the same spot " The Corner" but stadium dementions and such changed. Are we gona follow this? |
