Help please
Is there any way to import history into the game? I have the Cubbyfan's 2007 rosters, but there are no Historical Leaders, etc included. In fact, the almanac is pretty bare - only currently active players are shown as the all time leaders and there is no Hall of Fame included.
Where can I download files to cover up this glaring hole? Or is there a way for me to edit the History, Almanac and Hall of Fame sections myself? Thanks in advance. |

I don't believe any of the current community created rosters accurately import full histories, though I may be wrong.
Your best bet is to download the Lahman historical database (or one of the community created databases) and import that. They should bring you through the 2006 season, or at least up to it, I believe. Hopefully someone can come along and give you a more definitive answer. |

Thanks a lot for the reply.
Yeah, I was thinking Lahman might be the only way to go at this point. So if the Lahman is accurate up to 2006, why would anyway bother to download and install a user made roster. The user made rosters lack the accurate historical leaderboards, etc. So if Lahman includes all of this up to the start of 2007 (including accurate 2006 stats), then surely this is the best database available. I'm going to go give it a try. |

Well, for your purposes, this is certainly true. However, the rosters produced by certain members were intended to provide reasonably accurate teams for 2007 which Lahman will reproduce with 100% accuracy in 2008. It would have been a bit much to expect our roster makers to build in the historical accuracy that Lahman has done for years.
However, I hear that OOTP intends to produce current MLB rosters in its next version. It will be interesting to see how they tackle the issue that you brought up. For my purposes Lahman does a fantastic job of providing the basis of historical play, and I use it exclusively for that; I couldn't care less whether 2007 rosters were included with the game. |

I don't mind doing the work myself.
It would just make sense to be able to import the Cubbyfan roster set (for example) and then be able to add the leaderboards, Hall of Fame, etc from a separate source (like the Lahman set, for example). I just can't find a good balance between the two, and it's increasingly frustrating. I installed the Lahman (expecting to see stats up to the end of the 2006 season, as that's what they said it includes), but they only have stats up until the end of 2005 for some reason. I figured they would have updated to the end of 2006 by now, but I guess they haven't. I'm guessing by the time they update to the end of 2006 season stats, it will be outdated anyway. Not to mention that Lahman seems to add fictional managers and staff for some weird reason. I just want a way to start with a 2007 roster set AND have the leaderboards and Hall of Fame accurate. Is that too much to ask? I'm willing to do the work myself. Do I just wipe out the current retired.csv file (or whatever it is) with the Lahman one? That way I should get the 2007 rosters that Cubbyfan made and have the history from the Lahman one, right? Is this possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree? MaCrawford, I am no expert but I will venture a guess. Those roster makers work pretty hard, and if it were easy enough to accomplish what you are talking about, combining current rosters and Lahman database history, I think they would have already done so.
But, I will bump your thread back up to the top of the board and signal for some expert commentary to be made. As I said in my previous post, there may be improvements made to the game along these lines in a future version. This game continues to evolve and get better and I read that including MLB rosters is a priority for next year. How and if history is incorporated remains to be seen. |
