Editing my league

I'd like to make mass changes to teams, nicknames, logos, team colors, etc - and I think all this information is in the same file.

Is there anyway to edit this offline ? Specifically, the teams.dat file.

I see how I can export into .csv - and from there, I can edit the teams.csv file ... but how do I (or can I) go about getting the info into the game ?

export the files to csv (make sure they're all exported), exit the game. Edit the teams ones as much as you like. Make sure that your csv editor remembers to put all the commas back (Excel 2003 has a bug that screws this up)

go to http://www.bourtonville.co.uk/OOTPEditor/publish.htm and download the editor program - point the program to your saved game directory, click the Teams tab, then click Start and if that is successful click Load and it will import the csvs back into your teams.dat

I didn't realise it didn't work via Firefox - but then I've not got Firefox to test it on.

I am trying to get the program to re-import the edited .CSV files however it is not doing so. The program loads .dat files but do not load .csv files. Please help! Thanks!

Several primer questions.

1. In your import_export folder are there 61 files (IIRC there should be 61, it's possible to change which files are exported from within the game)
2. Are your edited ones in that directory?
3. Have you edited them with Excel 2003?

It installs via an ActiveX control, which is why it doesn't work with Firefox.

However, Firefox users can install the IETab extension, which will work around that issue.

That's the problem. Excel 2003 is pants at saving csv files. It gets the commas right for the first 15 rows and then messes up.

The last column is probably empty when you edit it. Put something like 'a' in it and then save it again and it'll get the commas right.

Can I use a text editor instead of Excel?

If using Notepad to edit a CSV files becomes something of a headache...

http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/index.html

I haven't tried it, but it looks pretty promising.
