Question Salary cap doesn't do anything?

I am playing in manager mode. Originally I had set the salary cap at 50,000,000. But I bumped it up to 60mil last season. However...every single team in the league is OVER the salary cap...and there doesn't seem to be any kind of penalty for it. Why is it even there if it doesn't do anything? Even my team has a payroll of 69mil.

Can you still sign anyone? What it's supposed to do is stop you from signing anyone once you have gone over the salary cap, though it doesn't stop you from going over it. Does that make sense? In other words, if your cap is $50m and you are at $48m, say you decide to sign a guy who wants $3m. You could do it, but then you wouldn't be able to sign anyone else. That's my understanding anyway.

Hmmm. I'll have to check that out. Does implimenting a salary cap limit how much the players will demand as far as salarys go? Meaning 20 years from now am I still going to have guys asking for the same salaries as right now, or will inflation take place. Basically what I'm asking is am I going to be able to have a Salcap of 70mil for the next 20-30 years, or am I going to have to up it to 130mil by that time?

The game doesn't adjust salaries based on anything as far as I know. Even if you have a salary cap of $20 Mill, all that will happen is that high priced stars will not sign with anyone and sit out a season or two untill someone can afford the $12 mill price tag.

The game does not adjust salary demands based on the salary cap, the game also does not include inflation. So player demands will stay on the same approximate level.

The salary cap is not enforced during the initial draft. As a result some teams may end up over the cap at the start of a league, these teams will generally not sign anyone gradually cutting their salary until they get under the cap.
