What a difference. Instead of nibbling around like some other guys, Chamberlain comes in with authority, fearlessly hitting his target, throwing strikes. Instead of 3-1, it's 0-2 or 1-2 for the deciding pitch. Those other guys are throwers. This guy is a pitcher.

Yep, he did a very good job especially after Vizcaino had given him something to deal with.

Hopefully the Jays will win tomorrow and make it a 2 game rush down the final week rather than 1.

Huge game tomorrow for the Yanks... If the first 3 of the series are any indication, tomorrow should be fun.

My prediction, if the Yankees win tomorrow they will be AL East Champs

I'm just happy they're looking like making the postseason. I couldn't care less if they win the division or not. Hell, the way recent history has gone, they've probably got a better shot at winning the World Series if they don't win the division.

Maybe the quote was supposed to be in reference to 1996 but don't they have fact checkers for these guys?
Yeah, the reference to 1995 made no sense at all, since Rivera wasn't used in anyway similar, and certainly didn't pitch more often.

It would make even less sense to talk about 1996, since Rivera was already 26 at that time, and had half a season of MLB relieving experience.

How do you compare that to someone who's 21?

Yeah, that's the main reason I don't think there is any need to make any kind of specific change now. They should be resting key players more and not less.

I would like to see Posada on the bench at least three of the remaining games. I don't believe that a catcher as old as he is has ever started as many games at the position in a single season.

No, if the Yankees win tomorrow they'll be 1 game back on us with 6 to play. If they're ahead of us by Saturday then they'll be AL East Champs

Well, actually all we have to do is tie to win the division since the Yankees are ahead in head 2 head this year So we have an advantage that we don't have to be ahead of you to finish the year.

And I stand by my prediction still, if the Yankees win on Monday, they will win the AL East..

at the moment it's an if and if the Blue Jays play like they have the 2nd and 3rd innings it will become an if and by the end of play hopefully an if

can't get a bigger if than that on here

OK guys, I know it seems rough after today, but lets get back to game plan. One game at a time.

Remember, we only have to tie Boston. We just gotta go out and win tomorrow. If we do that, and Boston loses, its down to 1 game.

Remember, 1 day at a time That's all we worry about.

Well, Toronto's Litsch pitched a great game, as he did against Boston the other day.

The Yankees will play against the Rays from tomorrow, and should clinch the Wild Card spot right away. (Even though Hammel pitched well against the Yankees last time up)

Once we clinch the wild card, I wouldn't mind seeing some of our vets take a break. Ensure our older pitchers are well rested (except for Wang who overthrows if he rests too much) and Posada gets some bench time. I really don't mind giving the division to Boston if it means that we are well rested and ready to go next week.

As for our post-season roster, I'm hoping to see Hughes and/or Kennedy coming out of the pen with Vizciano/Rivera/Ramirez/Villone.

I'm still getting over the shock of reading the following about last night's game.

Farnsworth came out and pitched a perfect seventh inning.

I thought I was imagining things

Myasu,

I'm going to be in Tokyo the first week of October, so I'm going to miss some playoff games. How are you watching baseball? mlb.com? Or are the Yanks and Sox on tv with Matsuzaka and Matsui playing?

Tom

That's the thing about him. He has all the tools, except mental. In a non-pressure situation, he can be good. In a pressure situation, he usually stinks.
