Cool Thowing out an idea - anyone interested?

*Of course, that should say "Throwing out an idea...." (idiot)

I'm going to start a fictional league pretty soon. It will have the basic MLB structure, but I want some different teams in there. It seems like every year I do a fictional league I have the same team names, the same cities, the same concept.

So, if you're interested, here's where you come in:

Come up with the following and I'll put your team into my league:

City Name:
Team Nickname:
Market Size:
Team Colors:
Team Logo (for the ambitious ones):
Manager Name:
Stadium Name:
Star Player Name:
Star Player background:
(ie is he a star pitcher with 10 years in the bigs, I young 3B who jumped through the minors quickly, a flame-throwing closer). Every team will have one star who is created by me to replace the generated player on that team at the said position.

Also, please add anything else you want. This is a take on some of the past threads where you've created your own player. If people like this I'll do a dynasty report.

I'm not sure if this has been done before. I'm certainly unsure if it will gather interest in any way. But, as I said, I'm looking for something different for my new fictional league and I figured, we have some really bright, creative people who might come up with some fun stuff.

Thanks for considering...

So far we have:

1. K-Town Ramblers (SandMan)
2. Moundridge Mammoths (Elendil)
3. Port Washington Road Runners (Brewers 194)
4. Rapid City Stallions (Reds1)
5. Saginaw Gears (Lou Wuerfelball)
6. Beantown Boomers (Justafan)
7. Kitchener-Waterloo Blackberries (Christian Troy)
8. Nicholasville Noise (avwjase)
9. Newark Nightmares (Cryomaniac)
10. Pismo Beach Surfers (rocknfire7)
11. Saratoga Springs Blue Streak (delta)
12. Deerfield Beach Tiger Sharks (sofla 97)
13. Oklahoma DarkStars (Jerrycapo)
14. Portland Jacks (Statfreak)
15. Vancouver Voodoo (Dvdmanny)
16. Green Bay Bluejays (Sbrylski)
17. Moose Jaw Wallopers (Left Handed Badger)
18. Long Beach Destroyers (CaLiKrAzY)
19. Richmond Rebels (Hageneezz)
20. Magnolia Bulldgos (Dxgarnett)
21. San Jose Electrons (dankrzyz)
22. Charleston Coal Miners (SDtwin)
23. Youngstown Steelers (CaptainObvious)
24. Charlotte Pilots (spitta)
25. Omaha Collegians (glenmere14)
26. Upstate Rednecks (lgkeeper)
27.
28.
29.
30.
31.
32.

Keep 'em coming!

Manager Name: don't care
Stadium Name: don't care
Star Player Name: George McClung
Star Player background: 2B, solid HR power & eye, decent but not great fielding, fantastic contact & gap power, slightly better than average speed & steal, right handed, great leadership & loyalty qualities

I want to start off by saying how much I love this idea. Makes me wanna do the same, but I won't

City Name: Port Washington, NY (Long Island)
Team Nickname: Road Runners
Market Size: Small
Team Colors: Blue and Yellow
Manager Name: Kenny Jackson
Stadium Name: Road Runner Stadium, 330 left, 410 center, 330 right, 30,000 capacity
Star Player Name: Danny LaMura
Star Player background: A kid from a small New England town, LaMura was a national hero when he threw a no hitter in the fianls of the World baseball Cup. LaMura was drafted 1st overall out of college. (I modeled him after Ben Sheets, so I'd like him to be like a 27 year old pitcher with good stuff and great endurance.)

I would like to participate. If the market/city is not right, just let me know and I can change it.

City Name: Rapid City
Team Nickname: Stallions
Market Size: Small
Team Colors: Red, Black, Silver
Team Logo (for the ambitious ones): See below
Manager Name: Rick Forney
Stadium Name: Badlands Stadium; 29,500 seating cap.; 335-405-345 dimensions
Star Player Name: Mitch Emerson
Star Player background: Pitching ace, cornerstone of the rotation, nasty fastball and movement; think of a more polished Dontrelle Willis who is almost equally as effective against righties as he is against lefties. Bats & throws left-handed.

Baseball fans in Rapid City have immediately embraced their Stallions and are very loyal to the club.

Edit: Here are colour codes in case you need them: red (b21601), black (000000), silver (d9d9d9).

City Name: Kitchener-Waterloo
Team Nickname: Blackberries
Market Size: average
Team Colors: Black, gold and white
Team Logo (for the ambitious ones):
Manager Name: Christian Troy Jr.
Stadium Name: RIM Park
Star Player Name: Leroy 'Smackin' McCracken
Star Player background: Power hitting left handed catcher from Hamilton ON who smashed his way through the minors in two years after being drafted in the first round out of HS. Made his debut as a 20 year old for the big club and left a big impression with his powerfull bat, keen eye, and impressive throwing arm. Not selected for the all star game during his first year because he was called up late, but was voted on during his second campaign. He is entering his third year of play at the tender age of 23. Is very loyal to the team as well as canada, though expects to be paid according to his talents. Other specifics: average speed, no real threat to steal, good at avoiding k's, above average hitter who draws plenty of walks.

City Name: Nicholasville, KY (pop 43,000 - suburb of Lexington - surrounding area pop - ~500,000 or so)
Team Nickname: Noise
Market Size: Small
Team Colors: Navy Blue, Yellow and White
Team Logo (for the ambitious ones): I'll include one
Manager Name: Whitey Madison
Stadium Name: The Noise Factory
Star Player Name: "Big Kentucky" Clint Goodwin / SP
Star Player background: Think Randy Johnson. Goodwin, at a towering 6'10", is a vastly overpowering left-handed hurler. With a fastball that clocks in at triple digits on occasion and two serviceable pitches in his slider and curve, to go with a well polished change up... Goodwin is very tough to hit.

Also, would you release the roster set after you're finished with it? I'd love to play it. I've been trying to get into a fictional roster set for awhile now and maybe this is what I need. A community project like this to get me hooked on one. That way the entire set isn't my creation.

I like the idea...but are we going to have to install sound that has the fans chant "Toga, Toga, Toga"?

Yes, the LG in "lgkeeper" stands for Lake George.

City Name: Tulsa, OK
Team Nickname: Oklahoma DarkStars
Market Size: Small (400,000 pop in city 900,000 pop metro)
Team Colors: Black, Blue, Yellow
Team Logo (for the ambitious ones): Logo attached
Manager Name: Avery Niceman
Stadium Name: Tulsa County Stadium
Star Player Name: Jack Hammer
Star Player background: A local hero born in Owasso, OK Jack played high school ball for the nationally ranked Owasso Rams. Jack then went on to become a star at Oklahoma State University leading the Cowboys to the Super Regionals before losing to the eventual World Series Champions. Due to signability issues Jack fell in the draft to Oklahoma, which was his preference, which made it very easy for Oklahoma to sign him.

Jack was quickly assigned to AA that year, where he hit .280-12-42-5. The following year he started out slowly through the first three months of the season hitting .275-12-32-12. Starting in July something just clicked and Jack started tearing up the league. During the final two months of the AA season Jack hit .395-24-59-4. He received a September call-up but did not see much action, only about 10 at bats in which he hit a single and a double.

Now in his rookie year Jack is the favorite to win the RF job. Jack projects to be a solid contact hitter, with immense power potential and incredible ability to hit the ball into the gaps. Some scouts believe he should have one or two sixty homer seasons. Jack also possesses a good batting eye and while he will strike out his share of times, he does a good job making contact with the ball. In the field Jack does not have the range to be a true centerfielder, but could play there in a pinch. He is more naturally suited to being a corner outfielder. He also possesses a cannon for an arm, making him an ideal right fielder. While Jack currently has some basestealing ability, I would be surprised to see him steal more than 10 bases.

Other Notes: If interested I have names and descriptions for almost a full roster. Just let me know and I will add them. They are not all star players.
