Corrupt player problem?

Well after playing 8 seasons I have suddenly encountered a problem...

I am stuck on game 6 in the first round of the playoffs. All the cpu involved games simmed no problem. However if I try to sim my game ootp will freeze(not responding). When I try and play the game ootp will freeze after I hit continue on the lineups screen.

While playing around trying to determine if there was some roster problem or something I also discovered that when I run the player salaries report from the front office screen ootp will crash giving a winxp error message "ootp5.exe has encountered.. yada yada yada"

My guess is that there is some problem with a player that I just gave a contract extention. When I open up the player nothing seems out of whack with his salary or anything like that but judging by the salaries report crash and the fact that I gave this guy an extention after my last game, I am assuming that this player is causing the problem.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

BTW I am playing in manager mode.

Have you tried going into the league setup and running the "computer manager" for all teams? Not sure how much good it is going to do with MM in effect.

No that has no effect. I am going to backup my league and then try releasing the player in question.
