Draft Compensation Question

Hey- I'm at work so I don't have access to the Manual and I did a quick search to no avail...in the off-season is there any way to know what Type of draft compensation a free-agent is before you sign him ? Thanks !

Yes- go to his Contract+Status screen, from his Profile, and scroll down to the bottom right corner. You'll see his Comp type.

Another Draft Compensation question

Because there is no bridge round in between the first and second rounds like in real life im wondering about how the compensation process unfolds in certain situations:

1) In years where you sign two (or more) Type A FA how does the team who used to own the second player you sign recieve compensation?

2) What happens when you have already traded away your first round pick in a earlier deal, and then sign a type A FA in the off season? Does the team automatically get your next highest available pick?

The answer to both your questions is the one you came up with on your own at the end there - if you don't have a pick from the appropriate round, either because it was traded or because it was used to comp someone else, then the team gets your pick in the next round.

No, that's not the case, at least not when you sign two type A free agents- no compensation is awarded in such cases for the second signing. The game does not use a pick from the next available round as compensation. I don't play with draft pick trading, but I imagine the situation is similar. Because of this, and because the first half of the first round is always protected from compensation (meaning bad teams can sign type A free agents without worrying about losing a draft pick) many people turn FA compensation off.

Implementing sandwich picks would be a great addition IMHO. It would make free agency much more interesting I believe.

I agree, I think that including compensation picks into the game was a brilliant idea. I think that adding in a sandwich round would make a big difference. This game never stops getting better.
