Rosters? If you care about getting things right it's very very time consuming. Because you have to adjust your methods to get the best results from the game's sim engine. Plus as Markus adds more cool stuff to the game, it adds more work to the modder's job. I suppose someone could knock one out fast but odds are it would be crap

Oh no poor pooch. Someone save him!! Hey guys, you might want to reread my cryptic message earlier, I did say an annoucement about ANOTHER mod. This one is something that I have big plans for, but won't be ready until OOTP 2008. But it's big enough that if I am going to hve a legit chance to do it the way I want, I will have to start pretty quick.

After all you've been through with these roster sets, AP, how close are you to just saying screw it and moving on to your big project for OOTP 2008? I, for one, would completely understand if you did. No one should have to put up with that for trying to help out the community. Especially for free. I'll be waiting patiently for you 08 project. Thanks for all your hard work!

The one thing that constantly keeps me moving forward even when I get discouraged is that I do want to be able to sit down and actually play this game too in between mod projects just to blow off some steam. And no offense to Cubby because I do respect his work, but I hate PECOTA with a passion and would end up rerating most of the players anyhow. SO I might as well finish this so I can enjoy playing the game more.Honestly, had Erich been able to release something, I would probably not be here worrying about, because our ratings systems are almost identical

It takes a player's minor league numbers, breaks them down farther by the level of play and his age to come up with an estimated major league average, but without the bias of PECOTA

I can't take much credit for the ratings and call them my own, I have only barely tweaked the ideas given to by Erich. Credit would have to go to him. PECOTA seems to folllow in Baseball America's lead and really fall in love with toolsy young players. It's not always about having the best tools, it's about using them correctly. Also it seems PECOTA never expects an older player to have value to his team.

Oh. I just saw a few places where you said that you were using some of your own formulas to come up with the ratings. So is this mostly Erich's ideas and you've just been messing with league totals for the most part?

No I have tweaked Erich's original formulas to attain what in my opinion is better results. I just need to credit Erich for giving me the base of my ideas.
