But you can expect poor offensive outings 6 games in a row? Doesn't work like that. The big offensive games are few and far between.

What is this 4 1-0 games the Twins have lost since the All Star Break? I am not sure why Terry Ryan will not invest in a couple of bats, with the pitching the Twins have had lately I don't see one reason they cant win this division if they can get a third baseman that can hit his weight and a DH that could start for atleast one other team in the American League. It is too much to ask Morneau to carry the offense like he did most of last year. Rondell White sucks, Punto sucks, Tyner is no better than a role player, Kubel needs to platoon for now. Oddly enough Casilla seems to be the only twin hitting with any consistency lately.

The answers: Get Piazza for little of nothing, he cleared waivers so I doubt the asking price for him is much. At 3b how about someone the Pedro Feliz. I would think they could then platoon Tyner and Kubel in leftfield and adding them two right handed bats should make them atleast a capable offense.

So he was selected by the Twins back in 2001, but he didn't sign with them (probably wanted to stay in college). Because he stayed in college, he was selected over 10 rounds earlier by the Rockies and signed with them in 2004.

It looks like he can play 2B, 3B and SS and his AA numbers this year look pretty nice (whereas 2006 AA numbers not so great). He was just called up to AAA and is probably going to be filling holes in AAA with the Twins calling up so many infielders.

He looks pretty inconsistent and has not been able to finish the past two seasons because of injuries. Doesn't look like he'll come of much, but you can't ask for much when you're trading Ramon Ortiz. My guess, as the Twins have said they don't need to call up another pitcher, is that he might be called up to replace Bartlett, but won't stick around for long.

This was actually great news IMO. Less than 20 million per for Zambrano is a great sign when Zito went for so much last year. Twins will be able to pay Johan between 18-22 mill so I like their chances of keeping him now.

Zambrano is a top 5 pitcher over that past 4-5 years.

Zambrano is a top 5 pitcher over that past 4-5 years.

There is almost zero chance that Santana will sign for an amount between 18-22 mil per year. He's much better than Zambrano. I'd say the Twins odds of re-signing Johan are similar.

Aug 13 Jayson Stark, of ESPN.com, reports Minnesota Twins SP Johan Santana could sign a contract that would earn him $25 million a year for five to seven years if he hits the open market after the 2008 season.

If Johan gives the Twins a discount like he has previously said he would I dont see why he wouldnt sign between 18-22 million per. Of course if he is still pissed about the trading of Castillo maybe I am overly optimistic.

A shame Johan didn't get to come out for the ninth and a chance to strike out the side and notch 20 K's.

Here's hoping Nathan's got nuthan' and the Rangers light him up for at least one run.

Woooooo...the dome was pretty electric tonight. Most were pretty upset that we weren't gonna be able to see Santana come out to pitch the ninth - but knew it was coming.

Santana made everyone ('cept Sosa) look freaking foolish tonight. It was sick to watch how on top of his game he was tonight. I think that Santana probably saw something else instead of the K being put up on the board, for every K that went up, he saw a $.

I'm guessing I missed a couple games somewhere, so it isn't perfect - but a good representation of how terribly the Twins have played.

Sure, when they have their hitting (which they did a lot more of earlier in the season), they have a pretty good record. If you score 4 runs a game, they win quite a lot. Last year (if I calculated correctly), the Twins scored an average of 4.95 runs per game, if only they could do that this year.
