Managing Levels
Hello All,
I am interested in getting some input about moving players up and down through the minors (and into the majors). Although I don't want to manage line-ups and pitchers in my minor leagues, I like to control moving players up and down. I started the year off doing some analysis based on players' ratings, where I thought they should be, etc. As the year progressed, if a player was performing well statistically, I moved them up (as well as the reverse). I didn't do this according to ratings, I just looked at how they were performing at each level. So, the end of the year is looming. How shall I handle preparing for next year? Reset everything and go through the same process? Or shall I leave players where they are and just keep and eye on certain prospects ratings to see if I should 'test' them higher? What do you guys do? |

For a while, I based promotion/demotion based on VORP. That compares a player to the rest of his league. I figured if a player had a high VORP, he was better than a below average player in his league and deserved a call up.
However, there was a thread going around about minor league stats not being a very good indicator of player performance in the majors. Since, I've reverted to using ratings. Don't know if I can say which produced better results. It's kind of a YMMV thing.
