Odd Free Agency Appearance

As I run a solo/fictional 'clean slate' league, I expect to run across the occasional anomaly. I can create workarounds for some, rationalizations for others, and some - like the following - I just don't understand. Why would this player suddenly 'become' a free agent on the day of FA announcements when 1) he's been sitting in the pool since August, it seems and 2) he really has no official eligibility requirements?

Always a possibility I'm overlooking the obvious, but obviously I'm confused about this situation and others like him just following our inaugural season. This is the first free agency period of the league.

Now I feel like I might be overlooking the obvious, but I don't see why this is anomalous? The player's contract info, at the top of the screen, should have said 'Free Agent!' the moment he was released; it's appearance there has nothing to do with the start of the FA period.

Maybe that's what I'm missing, the fact that he and a few others were simply singled out in the news as topping the list of FA players. It's likely just as tame and simple as that. No one 'became' a free agent as the period began, the news just chose specific players to mention and highlight.

That's definitely something I've seen- sometimes, just after the playoffs end, I release players who are arbitration-eligible because I don't want to pay their salaries. When the FA period starts, they're often still free agents, and often end up in the 'top 10' in the news message announcing the beginning of the FA period. So I don't think anything unintended or buggy is happening here, even if perhaps it could be a bit unexpected.

Yeah, I don't think that the news story can differentiate between when players enter the FA pool. Is there anything more that needs to be discussed here, or should we close this out?

As we haven't heard back on this one in nearly a week, it will be closed for housekeeping reasons. If you need any further help with this issue, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support. Thanks.
