He'd better watch himself, or the Sox will re-sign Shingo Takatsu to throw a 50 MPH frisbee pitch at him.

HA! That would be fun to watch.

Yeah, I figure that Duncan will become another Shane Spencer, which isn't a good thing BTW However, it's good to see him living his dream. I hope it lasts as long as possible for him. With Giambi coming back, I'm figuring his days are numbered.

Giambi wants his playing time, I'm sure, but I doubt he'd resort to murder.

I don't believe either has "great" potential. And, why would it be a two month rental?

Geez, matched 8 spots. I wonder if that's ever happened before. Sad to see Karstens roughed up in his first outing back.

How come all the matches seem to be early today? Is it a public holiday in the States? I was just about to get ready to see what was going to happen tonight and I find we've already won 7-4 and the Yankees have lost 13-9.

That's normal on Thursdays, as travelling teams have to go straight from the park to the airport to get to their next city. Same thing tends to happen on Mondays. That's also why days off are almost always on a Monday or a Thursday.

Once again, Farnsworth comes in and either gives up the lead or allows it to be extended. Final post on this subject, because I am just aggravating myself and boring the forum more than usual.

I'll trade you Farnsworth for Aardsma and Masset straight up.

At this point, I'd trade Farnsworth for Rickey Henderson.

Why did we trade Scott Proctor?

One of the experts will come up with an obscure statistic that will blow this out of the water, "BABIP-adjusted VORP" or whatever, but I can only give you my impression from observing his performances over the past few years.

To me, Proctor is one of those pitchers whose actual value to the team is not indicated by his ERA (3.86). WHIP might be a better indicator of how he did: over 1.50, significantly higher than the league average of 1.39. The walks are the thing here and I think that shows something about him.

Proctor would do well in situations where the game was not on the line, thus lowering his ERA. However, when he is under pressure he seems to be afraid to come after batters, prefers to nibble around the plate or just plain misses his target, consistently getting behind in the count. I believe the phrase is "afraid to use his stuff." Like someone else that I am no longer talking about, he would often get backed into a corner in which the alternatives are groove one down the middle or walk the batter.

The Yankees saw this, I believe. Why else would they trade him? To his credit, he is a workhorse and quite willing to take the mound often. Yet, he failed too often in the clutch IMO.

My problem with trading him was who they got in return. I like Cairo; he brings something extra to the team that the difference in BA between him and Betemit does not offset if Cairo is "downsized." As far as the bullpen, I'm not worried about that; the Yankees have a lot of arms coming up from the farm and back from injury to fill any "void" left by Proctor.

Rangers game in Cleveland started at 11 AM here in Fort Worth. I really enjoyed the change of pace.

Jason Botts is one big sumbuck.

If you want to say two, I won't argue the point.
