How many games do you sim?

I'm a relative Newbie to OOTP and enjoy playing historical seasons. I'm starting way back in 1903 and plan to move seasons forward through the deadball era.

Here's my question: For those of you playing out a string of seasons as GM as one or two teams, how often do you actually play the games and go through the sim? In other words, do you merely let the games autoplay and just worry about GM functions, or do you actually play a certain number of games as manager of your team?

I'm thinking of playing about one-third to one-half of my team's games during a season so I can get a better feel for my team and experience the fun of simming and pitch-by-pitch that OOTP offers. I'm also an Action BB simmer, so I enjoy that aspect of it.

But I'm worried that I'll either get too burned out playing so many games or that I won't be able to get through seasons as quickly as I like.

What do others do??? Do you play certain months of the season or the games at the end when a team is in a pennant race, or have some other formula to dictate game-playing?

It varies completely for me. Some leagues I'll play every game (and rarely get beyond a season or two), others I will sim every day individually, others I will sim one week at a time.

My current league started in 1901 and I've simmed one week at a time. I just finished the 1903 season having won the '01 and '02 World Series and losing the '03 Series.

Simming

Thanks, Kelric.

When you sim one week at a time, do you play a few games manually as opposed to autoplay?

One more deadball question: with 1901 and 1902, do you make many trades? I doubt they had much of a trading deadline at July 31.

Nope, I just straight sim them to get through them as quick as possible.

My current league I have trading and financials completely off. It isn't terribly historical, but the players and most of the teams are, at least.
