He sounds like our Jay Gibbons. The guy who was hitting .206 and wondering why he wasn't playing more.

I mean, he (Farnsworth, not Gibbons, but I sympathize) has had every opportunity and he's blaming others? I would have traded him last year if I were Cashman. He has been a big mistake and now he's an even bigger baby, not to mention a crummy teammate.

He's a good tackler, though.

Not that I will miss Proctor all that much, but I wish it were Farnsworth instead of him. And, for another utility infielder? What about Cairo?

Jeremy Schaap said they're looking at Betemit as the long-term successor for A-Rod if he leaves. Ha-ha!

Betemit's a far better hitter than Cairo and eight years younger.

Yes, but we held on to Cabrera and Kennedy. Now, if they would only release Farnsworth and bring up Chamberlain . . .

I wouldn't have any problem trading them both for Gagne.

Does Wilson have the betemit as well?

If Cairo's getting regular playing time for your team, playoff contention gets a lot harder.

I think we are witnessing the end of the Yanks. They are going to need all of their pitching prospects to pan out. History tells me that's not going to happen. But their rebuilding will only take one year as opposed to the 10 or so it takes my favorite team.

They've never needed that to happen before. I don't see what's so different now pitching-wise from any other point in the last ten years. Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera (and Ramiro Mendoza, I guess) are the only pitchers to come up through their farm system and make significant contributions in the last fifteen years or so. The Yankees have always relied on trades and free agency for their pitching.

Kennedy, yes. Cabrera, no I hope not. But both? Give up two young players with great potential to be around a long time in order to rent a pitcher for two months? Comments like that just show that you are no fan of the Yankees, sir.

Did I miss something? Like something more important than being only 3 games out of the wild card on August 1? Like something other than having all the arms coming up from the farm (for a change, like mlyons says) of which only a handful have to work out, not all? Like something other than the bats coming alive the past few weeks (catch last night's game?), seven starters hitting .322 or better in July? You sound like I did back in May when I was so pessimistic; now I feel like editing those posts. The season is far from over. The end of the Yanks? A bit premature, sir.

I agree on Kennedy but as always you know I disagree on Cabrera.

I think Melky has pretty much reached his potential.

What is up with Duncan??

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player?statsId=8072

Another HR last night for the kid that came out of no where. He'll probably head back to no where, but it's still nice to see a kid like this do well.

I know we're feasting on losing teams right now, but it's great to see the Yanks on a roll. Hopefully, they can carry this forward when their schedule gets tough again.

As of right now he's been patient which is very nice.

He still swings and misses a lot but that isn't a huge deal as long as he's getting on-base (and I guess guys need to swing and miss every now and then to get on base via walk).

He swings hard. He doesn't let one at-bat go to waste. Still have to see what he does once pitchers figure him out. Though, I think a fair share of his homeruns have come on breaking balls.
