I like the fact that the game indicates which players are hot/cold. However, is there any advantage to benching a cold player if he is the best option? For example, I have Derek Jeter and he is on a cold streak. My backup SS is Luis Sojo. The probability is that Jeter will get a hit more often than Sojo, so why should I sit Jeter? In real life a day off might help a player break out of a slump. Is this modeled at all in OOTP. Or does the consistency rating have any bearing on this issue?
Thanks to the exerts for any help. Todd |

Good question, I also wondered if a guy wouldn't be 'blue' any more if you sat him for a day or two.

I have wondered this also. Another thing I have noticed; I had a pitcher I called up because of injuries. He was not ready for the majors, but I didn't have a choice. He was pretty much shelled, and when my regular guys got healthy, I sent him back down. However, he was continued to be listed at cold for a couple of months, even though he was in the minors. Wierd.

They'll probably still be cold when you bring them back but not always. Sometimes the hot/cold listed on the roster screen varies with what you'll see on the lineup screen as well.

Do the hot/cold labels effect play, or is it just based on their to date stats?

More importantly, you don't know whether a player will continue with the streak, or it will stop. To me, that's the fun of the hot/cold indicators. You never know if a player will continue tearing it up if you play him. BTW, I recall hearing that the streak factor was toned down from v2 to v3. So the effect was more pronounced at one time, i guess too much so. [ 04-10-2002, 01:01 AM: Message edited by: JML ] |
