HAHAHAHAH...
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/player...e?statsId=5508 Cincinnati infielder Juan Castro agreed Monday to a $2 million, two-year contract extension with the Reds. He's batting a cool .190 with 5 doubles and a .438 OPS. |

I didn't go to that game, but I think the 2nd game was more exciting to go to than the first game could've been.

TC won the mascot HR derby. Not surprising if you've ever seen him hit at the dome. The guy can crush the ball! I still think it is Kent Hrbek in the bear suit...
The bear is a lefty...Kent Hrbek is a left. The bear can hit...Kent Hrbek could hit. The bear is tall...Kent Hrbek is tall. The proofs all there... Last edited by MorseMoose; 07-10-2007 at 06:27 PM. |

Can't spell HRBEK with out HR.
Therefore, Kent Hrbek is currently working in the Twins' Human Resources department. |

My friend said he saw a baseball video game with Justin Morneau on the cover, but can't remember the name of the game. Does anyone know what it is?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. He's on the Bigs, I guess it's a best buy exclusive because normally it's Pujols.

Can they get any worse than Lew Ford? I thought Rondell was suppose to be back any day now.

To take a page out of Denny Green's book...
"They were who [I] thought they were." The Tigers were easily beatable in these last three games. Our pitching was great. Our batting sucked, but what's new? I've got a feeling that there is going to be a lot of turnover into next year (similar to that of a few years ago). Pierzynski -> Mauer -> Mientkiewicz -> Morneau - > Morneau *** Rivas -> Castillo -> Casilla *** Guzman -> Bartlett -> Bartlett/??? *** Koskie -> Punto -> ??? *** Jones -> Stewart/Kubel/Ford/White -> ??? *** Hunter -> Hunter -> ??? *** Mohr/Kielty -> Cuddyer -> Cuddyer I'm more adamant now than ever the Torii Hunter needs to go. There is NO CHANCE that he will earn what we will pay him compared to someone we could fill in and spend that money in two positions. I say to screw the "no negotiations during the season" rule the Twins have. Sign Santana to a long (as long as he wants) deal, then turn around a trade Hunter, Castillo, Ford (for what you can get), Rodriguez (whatever you can get) and whoever else people want. |

So even though we have Nick "HAHA MY SLG IS LOWER THAN MY OBP" Punto manning the hot corner (for $1.8M, btw), you want to get rid of Hunter?

Yes, I know that Pohlad has the money to spend. Yes, I know we have a stadium being built. But think realistically, Pohlad isn't gonna spend the money and even if he did...I wouldn't want nearly 15% going to Torii "I'm injured because I slammed into a wall again" Hunter or Torii "I swing at lots of balls that hit the ground in front of home plate" Hunter or Torii "I can't open my mouth to insert my foot, I just have to say something about everything" Hunter. |

So you like Punto and don't like Hunter? You do realize that Nick Punto is the only player hitting worse than our DH-by-committee, right?

I don't get to see him play much, but I do like to watch Torii Hunter. He seems to really enjoy just playing the game.

I agree with this, Detroit is looking old like Chicago looked at the end of last year and this year. If Detroit has a couple of key injuries they will blow this lead. Considering the injuries the Twins have had this year and with most of them either back or coming back I can see the Twins closing hard just like they do every other year. Does Detroit have a decent hitter on their team other than Magglio? He seemed to carry the entire show for the sluggish Tigers.

The Tigers have like four hitters in the top 12 of VORP. Come on.

If Pohlad spent money like Steinbrenner, sure...keep Hunter. But Pohlad is never going to spend the money like Steinbrenner. If you sign Hunter to a $15+ million dollar deal, that's going to be almost 15% of the budget. I don't know the numbers, but Santana/Morneau/Hunter/Mauer/Cuddyer gotta be close to making 80% of the Twins' budget. I just don't realistically see the Twins being able to keep this core together - and I say you gotta let the older guys go, and in this case it happens to be Torii Hunter. We can get some serviceable replacement at half the price and have enough left over to get someone to play 3B. And Ford? The guy can't play defense like Nick Punto. I don't care what you say about Punto's offense (it's obviously not what it was last year), but the guy can flat out play in the field. |
