A few questions

I recently converted an OOTP 6.12 career mode into ootp2007. There are a few questions that I have regarding scheduling. After converting the schedule generator would not allow for me to create an interleague schedule in a 150 game season. I kept gettting error saying turn interleage off and balanced schedule on. I have a 24 team league with 12 in each conference. I want each team from conf a to play each team from conf b one series per year (36 games). Also, there were no spring games scheduled as I had to go and schedule them myself. Is there a third party like stickware for ootp07?

One last thing: Under My team manager settings it doesn't say how long I'm signed for or contract information for the team I'm managing.

Also I've imported some stadium pics but the player icons are not lining up properly. These stadiums were from 00tp 6.12.

Thanks for any help.

A tall order, littlechris! I may be able to help you with some of this.

I have read here that the schedule generator that comes with the game cannot handle generating new schedules for unbalanced or interleague play. You set those settings in order for the game to see if it has any schedules that match your preferences AND also match your number of teams, divisions, and subleagues. If so, it loads one of those canned schedules. If you cannot generate a schedule that you like based on your preferences, see if there is one that will match in the mod that SandMan provides at this web site; he has a lot of schedules to choose from:

http://web.mac.com/sixwilsons/iWeb/O...Databases.html

Next, you see yourself on the Team Personnel page but unlike the others, there is no salary data. This is because it's designed that way; you do not have a contract like them and you work at the will of the owner (unless you are also the commissioner, in which case he's got little to say about whether you stay or not). If this is disappointing, go to your Manager Home page where there is much more information about you and your team than what you see on the personnel page.

On your Manager Options page (Manager, Home Page, Manager Options) is where you set Play Mode for Commissioner (either temporarily or as your normal style of play). Once you are the commissioner, you can make changes to your ballpark. You do this by going to your team's Home Page, Options & Ballpark, Edit Ballpark. Click Pictures & Coordinates to see where those player icons can be moved around. Once you have them in place where you want them over your stadium picture, you can leave them there or, if your other stadiums have the same picture dimensions, you can click Action, Assign Coordinates to All Parks.

Lastly, you know that you have something called a Secondary (a.k.a. "40-man") or Reserve Roster. All players on this roster when Spring Training starts can participate; minor league players can be put on the Secondary Roster (not the Active Roster) for this purpose without incurring the expense of a major league contract. The only downside to this is that once the season starts, minor league players who are not placed on the Active Roster are considered demoted to the minors again (they can stay on the Secondary Roster and be in the minors) and that "demotion" uses up one of their minor league option years (how many years you can bring a player up and demote him again). Also, you need to waive a player to remove him from the Secondary Roster. Read the manual for more details (and to make sure I know what I am talking about ).

Just a quick clarification about the (admittedly confusing) realm of option years: options have nothing to do with 'demotion'. An option (in real life, and in OOTP) is burned in each year when a player is on the 40-man roster, but is forced to play in the minors. Even if the player is never on the Major League roster, and spends the entire year in the minors (i.e. even if he is never demoted), he still loses an option year. In OOTP, the only players on the 40-man roster who will *not* lose an option are those who spend the entire year in the Majors.

This is much like real life, although there is a technicality in the real-life rules which is not correctly implemented in OOTP: in real life you need to spend 20 days in the minors to lose an option year. In OOTP, if a player is on your 40-man roster, and plays for one day in the minors during the regular season, he will lose an option.

So, one should be somewhat careful about adding minor leaguers to the 40-man, because that's when you start their option clock. If you're quite sure they'll be Major League players within three years, there isn't a problem, but if three years down the line they still aren't big-league ready, they'll be out of options, and you'll need to get them through waivers to demote them.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the help..the only thing I'm having trouble is with the 40 man roster I've got expanded rosters set but it only shows 26 (my setting) in my transactions screeen and i can't bring anyone else up. I had to schedule my own spring games for some reason and it says that I'm in Preaseason and not spring training (it's march on the calendar). Is this because it's first year of converted season? Am I supposed to change roster expansion date? I have 9-1 and expanded roster size set to 40. Sorry to be so chatty.

I've figured out the ballpark coords thanks to the help here, and I'm fine with not having a money contract as long as they're are still "owner expectations" and I can be fired or leave for another team.

I'm not sure why you're having to schedule ST games yourself; the game should schedule ST games for you, beginning in early March, as long as you've enabled ST in your League Setup. The game only lets you call up your expanded roster to ST; if you've set your expanded roster size to 26, you'll only be able to bring 26 players to Spring Training. The 'non-roster invite' (NRI) to Spring Training doesn't exist in OOTP.

Expanded roster is set to 40, regular roster set to 26. In options, it says schedule has been created automatically or has been altered.

Misunderstood which roster was set to 26. Rosters should expand to 40 on the first day of ST, in OOTP- they'll be at 26 throughout the preseason. On the white baseball menu (between game and manager menus), what's the next date you can sim to? The start of ST will be on that list if ST is scheduled. If it isn't there, either ST is disabled in your setup, or there was some conversion issue for the first season. If it isn't there, you could try regenerating your schedule, but I don't know what would happen if you've passed the first day of ST already. If it is some kind of conversion issue, it should correct itself next season.

I THINK that the problem here is that you're converting from 6.12 to 2007. When converting any game prior to 2006 you're supposed to do it on Opening Day, which would of course be after Spring Training ended, thus none would be scheduled. This is also the reason you aren't getting more than 26 players on your roster (I think). No S.T. means no expanded S.T. rosters.

Should I have converted from 6.12 to 06, then to 07?

I just want to know if it will be like this every year or when I flip the season, will I have a spring training?

During the offseason or preseason an option to hold spring training should appear in Game > Game Setup > League Setup > Options > Spring Training Options. Just check that off when it appears and you should be good for year two.

As far as converting to 2006, ugh. As I recall there was a specific day you were supposed to do that too, but I no longer remember which day that was (either December 31 or January 1… maybe).

What you might want to try is running your 6.12 league forward to Opening Day, then converting it to 2007. It wouldn't solve your spring training problem, but it might prevent some other issues that could crop up in the future.
