Draft Pick Rollover

The Draft Pick value in the game rolls over at 255.

Thus if you have a league with 256 teams in it, and look at the draft log you have two teams with a pick number 1, but one of those number 1 picks is actually 256.

That's a lot of teams in one league. This is clearly a limitation set upon the data storage, but I'll TT it for you.

TT 3680

I know I'm just a lowly user, but I can't see why that is the case, especially as this is a problem that occurs without any behind the scenes fiddling.

The game allows a structure to consist of two subleagues of up to 50 divisions of up to 50 teams. Therefore the design allows for a maximum of 2*50*50 teams, and in a draft round each team must therefore have a pick meaning a possible 5000 draft picks per round.

Therefore to say that it's ok that picks 256-511 and so on through the picks will be shown as picks 0-255 in any player report seems wrong, as that section should allow for data upto the designed maximum.

This isn't having a go at you Nutlaw as I presume you're just relaying what has been written on the Trouble Ticket system, but I guess that if some of the software I wrote at work was designed to do something and could be set up to do it and another part of it didn't work correctly when used within design parameters, the end users would get pretty cross about it.

I certainly don't speak for any of the OOTP developers, but it's probably just a case of prioritizing. In theory, I agree that this behavior obviously shouldn't exist. However, given the fact that very few people would even attempt to make leagues this large, given the fact that it's a minor cosmetic issue, and given the probability that it would be a pain to fix this, I imagine that they believe that they should focus their attention on more weighty issues.
