serious Trade/$ issues

Even though I only had 5 or 6 Million to spend in the of-season I bought a major SP free agent for 16 million. It said the owner approved it so I was all happy.

Under financials it says that I am at -$13 million.

The AI does NOT allow me to male any trade saying that I cannot afford the contract. I tried to trade for a guy with a 1 year $2.5 million contract and I even tried to have his team offer $3 Million and still it says that I cannot afford the contract.

I then tried to add my 2 most expensive contracts and still it says that I cannot afford the contracts.

This means I am stuck and cannot trade any major leaguer!

Do I have to wait for contracts to run out?!?!?!

I'm not entirely sure but that seems like the case.

I'd guess that if you want to include money you would need to ask for enough money to put you in the positive for the deal to go through. That happening is unlikely since I doubt a team will give you 14 million dollars.

dola,

You could probably trade a player making over 13 million dollars and trade him for a player making under 1 million.

I don't know how your roster looks but it just seems that you need to make a deal that puts you in the positive.

I agree but it makes no sense. Even though I am way under for the season financially, I should be allowed to trade away a $5 Million dollar player for another team's $1 Million player.

I think the AI just looks at me being down $ and will not accept any trade even though it helps the team financially!

I get your point.

I'm more surprised that you were able to get the other deal done to even get in this position.

Were you playing in Commissioner mode? I'm told that in some circumstances you can go over budget while in Commissioner mode. If that was the case, then this would seem to be evidence that it doesn't give you an absolutely free hand, as some had feared.
