Followup to: Major Slowdown with patch 2.0.2.53 (Mac)

A few bits of information to add, in response to some questions: From Andreas: Quote:
And sadly, Facegen doesn't work through Parallels. I was fortunate enough to play the preview version (PC only), and it didn't work unless I went directly into Windows (via bootcamp). That was the main reason I decided to buy the Macintosh version. From Nutlaw: Quote:

(Of note, I'm not a moderator, though I can reopen any thread you need if a request is posted in Tech Support here. Since you've already recapped the problem, however, we can work from here.)
Go ahead and try disabling trades to see if that makes a difference. I suppose that you could also try reinstalling OOTP and simming a test league with an earlier, unpatched version to see if you still observe a difference in speed. I haven't heard of any complaints from Mac users over their game speed slowing down after patching, however. How many years have you simmed in your main saved game? There are a number of options that can affect sim speed besides league size, including stat detail, scouting, saving box scores and game logs, and others. Did you change any game options before your game started slowing down? Last edited by Nutlaw; 06-14-2007 at 07:41 PM. |

Sorry guys -- appreciate your patience on this. I'm in the process of converting the NGBL over to OOTP2007, so I haven't put much time into much testing.
However, I DID disable trades (as I suspected was part of the problem). The offseason did run a bit quicker - a difference of about 45 seconds / day with trades on, versus 35 seconds / day with trades off. Maybe I'm off my rocker, but I'm pretty sure pre-2.02 patch it ran at a much quicker clip. I could uninstall and re-install an unpatched version to compare, as you suggested as a next step. This is a long haul sim - it's currently running off a 6.12 conversion, which had simmed for 25 seasons, and I've since simmed another 30. Is the size of the dB file going to impact performance? I don't save box scores or logs -- though I don't think that would have much impact during the offseason (there are no leagues running between ~Nov 1 through Mar 1). I am using the full scouting system - this is also something I could try and disable. |

No problem. Hope the conversion is going well for you.
Yeah, having a longer-term sim will likely slow things down somewhat. If you were to quickly create a test league and sim out an offseason, it may go a lot faster. Scouting will slow you down a bit, though the only serious delays seem to come with scouting in on-line leagues. Are you saving transaction logs and news for the entire history of your league, or are you having the game clear them out every season or two? |

As this thread has not received a reply in over a week, it will now be closed. However, I believe that we covered most of the reasons behind longer sim times in the post above. If you need any further assistance with this issue, please post in Tech Support along with a link to this thread. Thanks.
