I bought OOTP2, tried it for an hour and never played it again. I was wary about getting another version because of that experience, but I went ahead and tried OOTP6 and loved it.
Thanks to everyone who helped Markus develop the game, I sure didn't help.

Whatever happened to exhibition games?

Also very fast sim speeds.

You can schedule exhibition games in OOTP 2006 using the schedule editor.

I did not know that, thanks.

Hi,
I'd really like to download OOTP2 as freeware but can't for the life of me get the Underdogs website to work. In Firefox, the download page never loads, and in Explorer the entire website never loads. Does anyone have an alternate link to the file?
Thanks

Not a bad idea. I ran into an OOTP2 online league recently. I have no idea how they keep all of their league members from jumping the old ship.

It does not sound like the type of league that would donate for a program like that!

This has really caught my interest, and now I am wondering is it still possible to purchase ootp3 and 4?

I have tried but get licence server problems. Have they been removed from the servers?

BTW, the best thing about ootp2. There is no install, so finally I can play ootp at work.

Cheers,

Gav.

The setup files are still available at www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp

To play OOTP at work, you could for example download OOTP5 (the free version), install it on your computer at home, zip the OOTP folder, unzip it on the computer at work, and double-click the exe file.

Oh, so sneaky...

Now why didn't I think of that? And the whole thing should fit on a flash memory stick... Genius.

Thanks again for you help, Andreas.

Recently downloaded OOTP 2 from the archive. Is there a directory structure that needs to be setup? Or may I simply unzip all files into a single main directory? I see in the manual that there is a directory structure, but do not know exactly which files should go in which directory.

Also, are the rosters for OOTP 2 available for upload from the S. Lehman database site?

Thank you.

EDIT: I answered all of my own questions. I'd delete the post, if I could.

OK, I lied. Not all of my questions in the previous post have been successfully answered.

Am I able to, with use of the Sean Lahman database or some other patch, load actual rosters into OOTP2? I have tried versions 3.0 and 5.4 comma delimited versions of the database with no success. OOTP crashes giving me the "Do you want to send an error report" message.

Fun thread and a great place to say thanks for the memories. I really loved OOTP from 1 up through 6.5 and think it was the best baseball sim ever. I'm getting off the band wagon now after trying two Championship Managers modded to insert that odd American Cricket variant. Just not my thing, hope it goes well for the fans.
The jumps in quality from the beginning through the end of the franchise were dramatic and a tribute to Markus. Early on, I thought he was an awfully sloppy programmer, but he really tightened up the code and squashed bugs as he went along. His growth as a programmer and business guy were fun to see. He and most of you are going in directions I'm not smart enough to understand, but I'm sure it will continue to be a success story.
For me off to BM, who would have ever thought that I would come full circle back to Mogul after all these years? But the diversion was certainly fun, cheers.
