I had been planning on posting this website here for a few weeks but never got around to it until now.

This is a blog/website run by an American boxing journalist, Scott Mallon. He covers the boxing scene in Asia and some of his insights and interviews are very good. Mallon also plans to add feeds to his site that will air boxing from Thailand and Japan. He also has a very good interview with Pongsalek Wongjongkam that was just posted on there.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Joe Koizumi is the Asian correspondent for Ring Magazine. Scott Mallon does work for FightNews if i'm not mistaken.

Scott is a good guy. Does a very good job covering the Asian boxing scene. His new website is set up well & informative on some of the lesser known guys.

Click on a few of his advertisers to help him out.

His interview with Pong was good - Pong comes off exactly as he always has going on 5 or 6 years (since first interview I seen with him). Humble guy that loves the sport.

I went to make sure but I just read it in ring magazine, called Scott the "ring correspondant for Thialand".

Scott knows his stuff about Asian boxing as does Joe Koizumi. I thought the Pong interview was great. The comment that struck me the most was:

"I don’t ever think I’m better than anyone. There are many, many good fighters in the division who have not had a chance to win a title. I don’t think about this – I just try to defeat who is put before me.

It's a breath of fresh air to see someone humble and appreciative to the sport as Pong is. Also, Scott explains why he has not fought guys like Darchynian yet. In Thai custom the promoter is like the boss and the fighter is the employee. Basically he fights whoever his promoter gets but Pong did mention that he would like to fight Koki Kameda and then Vic in the United States once his current promotional deal is done.

BTW, I didn't realize Scott Mallon wrote pieces for Ring Magazine. Was aware that Joe Koizumi does/did.

I don't wanna be pissing on anybody's culture, but I found the Wongjongkam interview very disheartening as it is apparent that the promoters and managers call the shots in thailand and dictate who fights who. Wongjongkam even refers to his promoter as his "boss". Wow. Talk about exploitation of fighters. No wonder Thai fighters always stay at home and never unify, they can't even if they wanted to. Wongjongkam has absolutely no say in who he wants he can fight. Don't expect Vic darchinyan anytime soon. Ughh.

Thai fighters have and do travel (K. Galaxy, M. Kittisasem, Dutch-Boy Gym) to name a few.....But on the whole you're correct (Scott Mallon is). It is just part of their culture....

With that said....Pong's mgmt signed to fight J. Arce two different times....Only to have the Arce camp back away.....Once was only 10 days before their fight HERE IN THE STATES.....When the Arce camp / promoter tried to cut Pong's agreed purse from $200,000 down to $100,000.

A second offer was made for Arce to fight Pong in Thailand....and Arce (along with Alvarez #1 rated then) both chose not to fight him....

As for Vic. Hell, he talks and talks and has yet to really fight anyone of substance (and not even close to Pong's full resume) since winning the title.
