I assume it is to do with making room on the 40 man roster rather than option years? Are the teams perhaps set up to initally have more than 40 guys on the extended roster, forcing the game to DFA some of them immediately? In that case the solution would be to re-jig the roster assignment for each team, moving some of the prospects off of the 40 man roster? |

I thought that was what it was, but actually I turned everything off, let the computer automanage, then turned everything back on so that they have their team setup the way they want initially (so they won't DFA a ton of 40-man guys off the bat).
What's really strange is the guys they're DFAing are guys who AREN'T on the 40-man and have no reason to be DFA'd like Fernando Martinez for the Mets, etc. |

It might be more of a game engine thing than a roster set thing.
Just loaded up the previous set i used (airmen smith i think) and the same problem happens, day 1 has loads of prospects on waivers with no reason. I also notice as i play through that the AI teams hardly ever make waiver claims. I can pass some decent players through waivers without claims. |

Are you turning waivers on on Jan 1? If you wait a while to turn waivers on, does the problem still exist?

And if I'm reading the above correctly, there are major issues when waivers are on, but as long as they're turned off things are okay? Last edited by Ruthian23; 06-29-2007 at 07:26 PM. |

Yep without them on we're okay, also I think (I'm actually playing finally!) that if you just wait to turn them on until after the teams assign their 25-man rosters after spring training for the first year you should be okay.

age...
First off, thank you and any members that had any role to play in getting this roster set out, i am happily in my 3rd season already trying to win it all with the mets (made the WS but lost out to Indians).
but one thing i noticed was that all the players years are out by one year. for example glavine was born in 1966 but the game has him at 1967. i have checked for random players and this seems to be the case for all. did have much of an effect on the game, as they are all a year younger i got an extra year with glaving (who now has retired with 328 wins ;-)) thank again for the work. |

Yeah I had tried to fix that before with a universal push back of age by one year, but for some reason it didn't effect all of the players. Going to look at that later as to what we can do to fix it without taking eight years.

I´m an absolute beginner of the game and tried to get your Roster in my OOTP 2007-Game. IO downloaded it and make an "Saved Game"-Directory.. and the only way to get the data in the game is to Import an "OOTP-2006-Game"... what am i doing wrong?!? Because with this import i cannot change the Manager-Name and so on... I´m sorry for my bad english... hope you understand!! And thank you for any help!!

-in the roster set, there are several AAA guys with ratings close to the ratings of players on the ML roster. In OOTP, ratings fluctuate quite a lot. If an AAA guy gets a slight boost, or the ML guy a slight hit, the AAA guy seems like a better use of the roster spot, and the AI waives or releases the ML guy. Because ratings are fluctuating all the time, the AI makes a lot of these kinds of moves (although Markus pointed out once that there is a 'patience buffer' to prevent too many such moves- http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar.../t-147379.html )- Fernando Martinez with the Mets might overtake a 40-man outfielder briefly, then be overtaken a month later and be removed from the roster. Some of the quirky roster moves in the set aren't because players are rated too poorly, but because the teams have substitutes in the minors who overtake the major league players. Jeff Weaver, for example, has been released in both my sims because the AI wants to use Robert Rohrbaugh in his place. Some of the high potential prospects also quickly get Overall ratings good enough to get them on a roster, leading established players to be dropped. I expect it would help to reduce the overall ratings of many of the prospects and AAA players in the set; some are reaching the majors too fast. I've run a sim, and made a list of minor leaguers who surprisingly ended up as starters on ML rosters, which I'll post to the ratings thread. |

Al Era Leaders Bug?
Using the new roster, the listing for the AL ERA Leaders is all messed up. It shows relivers and minor leagues as leaders, not qualified, yet the NL ERA Leaders are OK. ???? Has anyone else seen this???

jff- yes, I've seen this as well, but I'm not sure why it's happening. I'm going to look in the setups now.

I think why this is happening is because the leaders are being taken from 2006 stats....Brian Bruney had 0.87 ERA in 19 games with the 2006 Yankees...he's now on the Trenton Thunder roster...All players will show this way if they are now on Minor League rosters and had stats on Major League teams. |

Going through now and "dumbing down" some prospects that are overtaking the ML'ers like IL said, I'm hoping to have a 2.2 set out tonight with more FAs, coaches, and those players knocked down a notch. |

Anyone having trouble with "invisible" players?
For example, on the Royals Scott Elarton is listed on the salaries page and if you do a search and bring up his player card he's shown as on the KC active roster - but he's not listed on the 25 or 40 man rosters.

GX- would love to help, but we need more information. What operating system are you on (Mac, Windows XP, Vista)? Did you unzip the file?
