We are just waiting for Billy Goat Promotions to finalize and sign the contracts for their fighters. See posts #394 & 396. Dont scare me like that...I have to go back and check all the previous posts to make sure that I didnt miss anything. I am also waiting for Aztec Promotions to make a decision on JCC's next opponent. I am also underway working on filling out some countries total of 50 fighters...NZ is one of those, so that if Stank qualifies, you guys may have a shot at the NZ title.

Sorry bout that man. Not sure how the heck i missed that post.

Okay Cane has decided he would like to take on fellow undefeated John Henry Lewis.

As for Stanky it was a tough choice but we will go with Johnny Taupau Sr.

Sorry about that.

Don't worry about it. Just glad to have your team still involved. I thought that your new business might have kept you busy and that you were going to stop for a bit. I will get to your fights tonight...you want both your guys to fight this month, March? Just let me know.

Cane vs Lewis...

Union Cane, USA, 3-0-0 (3) vs. John Henry Lewis, USA, 5-0-0 (3)

Lewis has been inactive since November 1952, and is coming into a hard fight after a long layoff. Lewis’ handlers probably should have taken some easier bouts before stepping into the ring with such a quality opponent. Cane is in excellent shape and is probably catching Lewis at a good time. Lewis is showing the effects of his inactivity as he cannot avoid the crisp punches, 15-4, from Cane in the 1st. Cane controls the 2nd round, 11-7, although the pace has slowed down a bit. Lewis and Cane split rounds 3 and 4. Lewis shows up in round 5 with a 15-3 advantage. Lewis seems to have taken the momentum of the fight. Round 7 is the best round of the fight thus far, as both fighters exchange blows. Cane is stunned by a wicked uppercut. Cane has a great 8th, 17-6, and hurts Lewis. Lewis has developed a mouse under his left eye. A big 9th for Cane, 23-4, as Lewis is hurt again. Cane seems to be winning the fight right now. Lewis looks fatigued but comes out firing a barrage of fights and knocks down Cane at the end of the 10th. In an amazing turn of events, Cane is unable to get up and Lewis wins the fight! Lewis has a successful return to the ring even though he needs better conditioning and more ring work and Union Cane suffers the first loss of his professional career.

Winner: Lewis
Result: (KO10)
Cards: 86-85 Cane, 86-85 Lewis, 86-85 Cane.
Punch stats: 33.6% - 51.7% Cane

Stankovich continues to surprise...

Johnny Taupau Sr., Samoa, 7-4-0 (5) vs. George Stankovich, New Zealand, 5-0-0 (5)

We are in New Zealand for this fight between Taupau and Stankovich. Stankovich comes in with an unblemished mark but has trouble in the opening round losing, 19-3. The Kiwi responds with a 11-4, 2nd round and opens up a cut on Taupau Sr. with a sharp, stinging jab. Stank puts down Taupau at the beginning of the round but is unable to close to deal. Stank takes the 3rd, 21-5. Two more knockdowns in the 4th, and this time Stankovich finishes the fight as Taupau Sr. is unable to get up before the count of 10.

Winner: Stankovich
Result: (KO4)
Cards: 28-28, 29-27 Stankovich, 29-27 Stankovich.
Punch stats: 38.6% - 39.7% Taupau Sr.

I'm not sure if it is a fight we can win but Chris will take on Montana for the Mexican National title.

Any country that has at least 50 fighters will have a national title. This will also allow some of your promotional fighters an opportunity to have local titles before moving to the regional and world. So, right now, Mexico (Arreola, Morales, Chavez), UK (Calzaghe, Honeyghan) are ready once your fighter gets ranked after ten fights. Russia, Cuba and New Zealand will also have over 50 fighters very shortly for (Povetkin, Savon, Stankovich). The only fighter eligible to fight for a title as of this moment is Arreola (has over ten fights and Mexico has over 50 boxers).

The top 4 boxers in Mexico eligible to fight for title:

Chris Arreola, 12-5-1 (7)
Saul Montana, 8-4-0 (6)
Gilbert Martinez, 10-6-0 (8)
Alex Garcia, 11-6-0 (9)

Would Villebillie and Arreola be interested in taking a match versus Montana for the Mexican title? The other two fighters would be in an eliminator bout with the winner receiving the next mandatory defense fight. If not, Martinez or Garcia will fight against Montana for the title.

**The U.K. Boxing Group and Povetkin should be prepared to fight for the Russian title soon. Drago, Drozd, Ibragimov, Kobozev and Vysotsky are world ranked and are not in the hunt for the Russian title. Here are the top Russian rated fighters not in the hunt for a world title:

Brudov, 10-4-1 (10)
Melkomian, 12-3-2 (6)
Povetkin, 14-3-1 (10)
Tokarev, 12-3-0 (9)
Valuev, 12-1-0 (11)
Zolkin, 18-2-0 (16)

**The U.K. Boxing Group and Calzaghe should also be getting prepared as Joe should be entering the rankings after his next fight.

**Muckboys Promotions and Savon will have a chance at the Cuban title as soon as he gets ranked. Right now Cuba has 55 HW's. Stevenson and John Herrera are world ranked so would not be included in the Cuban title chase.
Russia has fulfilled the required number of 50 boxers.

1. Tokarev
2. Melkomian
3. Brudov
4. Zolkin
5. Povetkin

Tokarev and Melkomian will fight for the Russian title.

Mexico crowns first champion...

Mexican Heavyweight Title

Saul Montana, Mexico, 8-4-0 (6) vs Chris Arreola, Mexico, 12-5-1 (7)

Saul Montana is widely considered one of the best heavyweight fighters to come out of Mexico. In his last fight, he suffered a loss to Diego Corrales in the Mexican National Tournament but has wins over Salvador Maciel, Ruben Vargas and Fernando Montes. Arreola is coming off a quality win over France’s Steve Herelius in Herelius’ backyard. Arreola has been in training to work on his defense, but we all know that the “D” is not one of his best skills. Arreola is a heavy-handed, swarmer and is pitted against an opponent that will stand and fight. Okay, only :29 seconds into this fight and Montana puts Arreola on the canvas with a hard right cross. Arreola gets up quickly and is able to avoid any further damage. It looks like a flash knockdown as Arreola doesn’t appear to be in any trouble. Montana follows up with a solid 2nd, 24-13, as he presses the action and traps Arreola in the corner. Arreola is down again in the 3rd as Montana keeps landing power shots on the inside, 23-6. “The Nightmare” lands a crushing shot that puts Montana down in the 4th. Montana is able to get up with :44 seconds remaining and Arreola runs out of time, 30-4. Montana goes down again in the 5th and is unable to get up from the sustained damage over the last two rounds. The fight is over at the 2:09 mark of the 5th and Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola is the new Mexican Heavyweight Champion! This was a remarkable fight as the fans are on their feet cheering on the fighters. This was definitely a Fight of the Year candidate.

Winner: Arreola
Result: (KO5)
Cards: 38-35, on all three cards in favor of Montana.
Punch stats: 30.2% - 54% Arreola

Undercard

Alex Garcia, Mexico, 11-6-0 (9) (KO5) Gilbert Martinez, Mexico, 10-6-0 (8)

Garcia knocks out Martinez to earn a shot at the mandatory 1st defense of the Mexican Heavyweight title.

Arreola is signed to fight Kid Cardenas in an April non-title fight anyways. At least we can say that Arreola has one hard noggin'! He should change his nickname from "The Nightmare" to "Timex!"
