Hatton-Castillo
I say Hatton in 10
In The Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV (HBO) Ricky Hatton (40-0) vs. Jose Luis Castillo (55-7-1) (For The Ring Magazine World Jr. Welterweight Championship) (HBO) Victor Oganov (26-0) vs. Antwun Echols (31-6-3) That would be very good news |

Gotta go with Hatton too, hopefully his Defense has improved a bit as you can't always rely on a balls out attack.

I'll take Hatton TKO 11. Ricky joins Wladimir Klitschko and Antonio Tarver as the latest high profile fighters to wear an IBO strap. Personally, I think the International Boxing Organization is, relatively speaking, a good ABC group. As their website states, they are the only sanctioning body with unbiased computerized rankings. May not be much, but I think it's a good start.

Oganov was pulled out of the fight with Antwun Echols. He recently signed with Gary Shaw and the upcoming card was promoted by Fight Academy, his former affiliation.
I'll take Hatton TKO8. |

I'll take Hatton by late round TKO, as I believe it's possible that Castillo's best
days are probably behind him. Greg

If the ad in sporting news is any indication, Hatton looked to be in great shape. I can see another dominating performance for Hatton. Sort of like Kosta .. a past prime brawler who will come right at him.

I like Ricky Hatton. He's good for boxing, so I hope he sticks around for awhile. I see him winning a decision over Castillo. Youth and less physical miles on the body should be the difference in this one.
I wouldn't be surprised if he encounters a few anxious moments along the way, either. Castillo has an edge in experience and I'd be surprised if he gets stopped. A knockout win for Hatton would be great. I just hope it doesn't turn into an inside "clinching," "wrestling," match by the midway point. That's a worst case scenario. |

Agreed with this. I think Castille is in the same stage of his career as Erik Morales. Just too many wars. I think his body is breaking down. Hatton should beat him, but Castille has a pretty good puncher's chance.

Castillo is a warrior and definately has a chance. Id say its 60/40 for Hatton winning this. If JLC is in good shape and can contain Ricky's come foward approach he has a shot for sure.

I'll go against the grain here and pick Castillo via the "one last big fight left in him" arguement.
Its true that Castillo looked like crap in his last fight but Ricky Hatton didn't look too hot either against Urango. And he had a close call against Calazzo from what I can remember. |

Does this give Jose more motivation to fight hard now or less?
Castillo's purse to be withheld! A Nevada Federal Judge today has granted an attachment in favor of Gary Shaw Productions and Diego Corrales’s Estate of up to $1,200,000 of any monies to be paid to Jose Luis Castillo. As a result, Castillo will receive $0 for Saturday's Ricky Hatton fight. Shaw and Corrales sued Castillo after he failed to make weight for their rubber match in June 2006. The case has not come to trial, but boxing attorney Judd Burstein was successful in having Castillo's purse held in escrow pending the resolution of the lawsuit. Friday, June 22 2007 |

^ I agree. On one hand maybe it makes him mad & he takes it out on Hatton. On the other, in the back of his mind he's thinking "I'm in this really tough fight with this tough guy & getting zero for it? What's the point?"

Castillo is on his way out. He looked shot against Ngoudjo. Despite that, he'll probably put up a good fight for the first three or four rounds and then fade due to the pressure of Hatton.
