I'll hopefully have the coaches importer done in the next couple of days so that they can be imported directly into the game database structure.

Great news! I think the utility is going to save us a LOT of time.

I think I should have the top ten prospects done tonight, as well as other prospects edited down. After that, I'll go back through and edit the remaining 11-30 prospects as well as nail down any last minute minor league players I forgot about. After that, file goes to hb for editing on Wednesday, and we'll have something for release as of this weekend.

Cheers!

EDIT: Also I think we'll have an official roster ratings and suggestions thread up Wednesday after I do a test sim for you guys to get your first cracks in so we can kill this thread and start a new one for release.

It's now available for coach importing as well. After a PM from Muz there is one thing to be aware of. The program doesn't add to the names file so I'd make sure the names file on the game you're importing into contains all the names that are in your players.csv or coaches.csv files.

I could still use some help. Nothing too "glamorous", but if you wouldn't mind doing some basic data entry, PM me.

Hang in there guys if I don't PM you back right away, I have a ton of PMs and I'm not on this board that much other than to check in once in a while. Plus we don't need a ton of help YET, but we will.

Like Muz said, he could use a ton of work I think right now so if you guys want to chip in right away that's probably your best bet.

Yep, I could still use some more help. And since we're not working on the main file, we can have several people working on this part of the project at once.

Plus, if we get several more volunteers, we might be able to add some extra info that would otherwise have to wait for a follow-up release. So as far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier!

PM me for details.

Yes definitely post it. How close are things to being what you would consider "complete"?

Let the debating begin.

For some reason the game includes a few guys that aren't really prospects. Mark Teahen?

But other than that it should give you a good idea of how the best younger guys in the game are rated (and likewise how the ratings baseline will be for the league).

I didn't really look into Prince Fielder in your list, but I just got done watching Rome on ESPN and I'm convinced the dude is going to be a stud. Maybe we should up his power level? Apparently he's got incredible range at 1B and good speed too.

It sure was funny watching Prince get that inside-the-park HR on Sunday against the Twins, he was about to collapse after he finished roundin the bases.

Hunter Pence

His speed rating is 56. After watching this kid pretty much every day since he was called up, I can guarantee you that his speed rating should be somewhere between 70 and 80. He'll regularly go from 1st to 3rd with ease and already has a few stand-up triples.

In what is becoming typical of the Astros player development department, during the last two seasons of build-up on this kid, I don't ever recall them mentioning the fact that he's got + speed at the major league level. But it doesn't take very long to see that he absolutely does.

Personally, I'd give him about a 78 speed.

Additionally, his defense should be something above 65. So far, he's making all the plays in the cavernous centerfield at Minute Maid and other than the fact that he occasionally looks tentative and is obviously still adjusting to seeing the ball against the upper decks, he's been very, very good.

For what it's worth.
