Dear boxing fans,

After many years of dedication to the boxing table top and computer gaming community, Jim and Tom Trunzo, the creators of Title Bout Championship Boxing and its predecessors, have offered me the complete rights to the game for purchase and I gladly accepted. Jim and Tom made a great job with designing this game, founding this community and accurately rating several thousand fighters. We truly owe them a debt of gratitude for their long-standing efforts!

Title Bout Championship Boxing version 3 is already in development now! The plan is to release it in 2007. I'm currently giving it a complete overhaul to get a strong basis for the role playing mode, which will be added to the game in this upcoming version. Role playing mode means that you can play the game as a manager. Set up contracts with boxers, manage their training, schedule fights and either try to earn as much money as possible or try to win the championship in one or more divisions. Or try to achieve both

When you start TB3, you can select to play either in the role playing mode or in the "open rules" mode where you can simulate single bouts or replay boxing history, just like you've done in TB2. So the open mode will allow you to continue your current boxing universes and you can start a role playing mode universe anytime! I will add some new features to this open mode, but the main effort will be to add the role playing game as a new, additional part of the game.

There will also be some important technical changes. Most of them are already done. I will revamp the skin, and had to make some important changes to the graphics library to implement some enhanced graphics features.
I will also take care of the problem with the database updates now. I've created an online database on our server, which holds all fighter data, biographies and the fighter ratings. With a single mouse click you can download new and updated data to your database, if you want to do this. It will merge into your database, i.e. it will update your fighter data without changing the record or the stats. The great thing with this feature is that a certain group of people gets a special access key which allows them to *upload* their fighter data and ratings from inside the game with a single mouse click! And this works already

While we are hopeful that both Jim and Tom may again one day rate fighters for the sim, nothing has been worked out in that regard. My intention at this juncture is to form a team of raters from our knowledgeable fan base here that will rate, test and upload files to the database noted above. This will be a vast improvement in terms of you being able to find the files that you are looking for but we cannot make a promise to provide anything resembling regular updates for fighter files at this time.

I'm very happy about the help which I'm getting from Chris (conn chris) and Mike (mh2365). During the last weeks both of them helped me with several difficult decisions. Chris and Mike are now part of the TB development team, and I'm looking forward to a productive future with them, with you and with the whole Title Bout community!

Title Bout steps into the ring again
I just wanted to add also my warmest congratulations to Andreas! This came as quite a surprise to hear all this but I feel it is going to mean many more great things in the future for TBCB! Congrats to also to Chris and Mike. I look forward to what you both will help bring to the new developements for the game. YOu 3 and many others on these boards have done a lot to make this a really great game to enjoy and make these boards here a really great community of players and contributers that truely enjoy being associated with!

Oh and congrats to the new crew.
Same here. I tried the demo of the last version but I need the manager mode to suck me in to the game and the figher careers. Looking forward to trying the demo.

Speaking of a demo
The demo IMO should be the complete game but let you play something like 3 days or 5 days before locking

I think the only way to show this game to new users is for everything to be avaliable to them to try

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I quoted a warnable post also... and TC just PM'd me and told me not to do it again. As long as you don't go around stirring up trouble on a regular basis, TC is pretty cool.

Plus, you probable get a little more slack than most since you contribute a lot to the basement and to TBCB. In the past, you've always taken a lot of time from your day to answer questions for people concerning the game.... I know you have answered a few of my questions as well.

So, try not to be too big of an a-hole... it least not until next year. With III soon to be released, you will be needed down here - don't get banned!

Calling people names
One I completly deserved, the other I did not even know I was calling someone a name.
But its no big deal, if I continue being good by the end of next month both of them will be gone.

So I know people despise this question, but is there any indication of when the new TB will be out?
Late this summer? Early fall? Christmas release?

I have no been this excited for a game in a long while.

I mean dont get me wrong, I am always exciting for new releases of Football Manager and OOTP
But I have wanted a boxing career game since....probably a decade or so (which is like half my life)
So I am doubly excited for the new TB

I wish there was a way I could help with the new release

I think Andreas was talking late fall but he was definitely talking 2007 release.

Of course like all text games it will be released when tested and done LOL

I would not have it any other way
And since this is still a niche title he will not have hundreds of people breathing down his neck yelling for news updates.
So if we chooses to push it back to 2008 because he feels its not ready then I think he can get away with it

I would think the goal would be to get it most of the way done or all the way done before he has to dig in on OOTP2008 ... but once again I'm talking off the top of my head and not really relaying any concrete info.

I thought you said he has nothing to do with SI?

That is something I was wondering, if this game does grow and get enough of a customer base. Could SI eventualy purchase Andreases shares of the game and give him programming help?
Or is Andreas even a SI employee?

I believe (once again mostly guessing) he is an employee of SI but TBCB is not part of SI, he owns it. I'm not sure he works on anything for them but OOTP though.

I really don't know for sure. It would be nice if TBCB3 could generate enough sales to get SI backing esp. since boxing is so big over in Europe right now.

I should probably stop speculating now LOL

Well it does not take alot of brain power to think of the ways that a big time text sim company could improve our game.
All those addtional resources and man hours that could be poured into it!

Good stuff!! Like some others, it'll probably take a good RP module to get me back into the game.

I've played gazillions of seasons with baseball career sims (Mogul) and hundreds in football (FOF). Starting with real guys and working your way forward so that in time so that all guys are fictional, always worked well by me. New guys come in kind of slowly and you get familair with them and before you know it, you can identify with a truckload of fictional guys and to me, that's just as good as all actual guys.

Scouting is tricky. You need to know enough, but not too much I guess. I really wouldn't mind an option where you could see the actual ratings though. No sense pulling your hair out when your 11 HP lightheavy is 4-4 with 2 KOs . . . be nice to see his actual HP is 5 . .or whatever.

To some that defeats the whole purpose I guess . . .kind of tough area to make everyone happy.

Like has been said, maybe a scout will get more accurate as a fighter goes on . . something like this:

HP: 7 (+/-4) after three fights, but
HP: 8 (+/2) after 10 . . . .

Ratings should never be off the map though as far as the scout goes. I understand a ceratin grey area because you're not sure about a young fighters performance vs. potential and all, but there's really no confusing a HP: 2 and a HP: 9 when you're training a guy.

Just my point oh two.
