Chavez Jr. was impressive again ... I'm officially on the bandwagon!
Love that he is starting to talk crap now too. |

Well, I certainly have no desire to ever watch Yuri Foreman fight again. It was even worse then the rendition of the Star Spangled Banner I just suffered through, which is saying something.
Soto continues to look good. I hope he ends up getting a shot against one of the big names soon. Junior's fight was a mismatch, but I still like watching him go about his business. As for the upcoming Cotto/Judah bout, I think Judah's mental lapses and jaw will eventually catch up with him. I'll also go with a mid-fight stoppage by Cotto, but I do hope Judah tests Cotto's own whiskers. I don't want Judah to win, but I do want him to crack Cotto a few good times so we can see whether Cotto actually does have a little glass up there like many of the boxing scribes keep suggesting. I just want to say that I heart bodyshot KOs. Chavez looked really good thought his opponent never really had a chance in that fight. 3 KDs from bodyshots that was TBCBish.

Damn good fight, overall I must say it was a fun night of boxing I'm happy man. As for the Cotto/Zab fight, that was a mauling Cotto just broke Zab down with that relentless pressure. I was impressed with Cotto. That second lowblow was cringeworthy so I don't know how much of an acting job it was. All I hope is that people don't try to use the lowblows to discredit Cotto's win.

Good scrap even though I only gave Zab 2 rounds. Lampley was trying to hype it as a MSG legendary fight -- which it wasn't -- but it was a PPV fight that was more fun to watch than some of the recent ones.
It was interesting to see that, when Cotto really began to break Judah down (especially that 9th round smackdown), Judah broke but at least he didn't snap mentally. Maybe he's actually beginning to show some ring maturity. |

I'm sure we'll hear rumblings that Judah would have stopped Cotto if that first low blow hadn't landed (controversy sells rematches), but I agree with Merchant that Cotto looked as if he'd already recovered from the uppercut. |

1) great action packed fight ... 3 good fights on that card ... body shots, body shots, body shots
2) Signature win for Cotto 3) right up until the post fight interview where he started making excuses that was as much heart from Judah as I've seen in his entire career 4) Cotto is a beast but I do worry about that chin esp. in the early rounds, but every fighter has flaws. |

I have to say, I think Zab did the very best he could. He hung in there in the end when he could have easily folded a few rounds earlier. When boxing needs new "hero's" I think Cotto may be in the right place at the right time.
Fighters like Cotto and Pacquiao are just what the sport needs to bring in the fans. |

Wow, I hope I'm wrong but I think Cotto just "ruined" Judah. I don't expect Judah to ever be the same again after taking that beating.
It reminds me of Chavez-Camacho. |

Funny some people on maxboxing still aren't giving Cotto any credit. They say he beat a shot fighter LOL.
Now as much as I love Floyd, these same people are saying Floyd would destroy him. Floyd doesn't have the power that Judah has so my question is how would Floyd keep Cotto off of him. Sure Mayweather would block and avoid a lot of punches, but Cotto IMO is one of those guys who will hit and hurt you on the arms, shoulders and anywhere else just to wear you down later in the fight. I'm not ready to say Cotto beats Mayweather, but Saturday night definitely closed the gap. |

Yeah, Cotto was impressive. Zab trained hard for that fight & knew it was his shot to get back on top & Cotto's will & power just broke Zab down.
I can see why Puerto Rico & boxing fans in general are excited about this guy. I liked it when Lampley talked about the huge crowd to Manny & said: "They must not have gotten the word that boxing is dead". Last edited by hamed; 06-11-2007 at 11:22 AM. |

Cotto/Mayweather would be an excellent fight. I think PBF would be able to slip most of Cotto's head shots but in his fight with Oscar, he was vulnerable to being hit on the arms and the sides. If Cotto can get to Floyd's body enough, he might be able to break him down and score a late round KO. |

Let's see about Foreman. A technically sound fighter, that fights at only one speed, and has no real punch. I'm not looking forward to watching him again either. The other three bouts were enjoyable, if you hadn't been put to sleep by that first one. Bear

There are quite a few European fighters that are like that. Felix Sturm comes to mind but he has a better punch. Oktay Urkal and Thomas Damgaard have no punch but they can be exciting at times. Yuri Foreman is a fighter who stays in neutral for twelve rounds and does nothing to get anyone interested or excited.
