Possible patch issue with historical fictional

Before I post in tech support I was wondering if anyone might have time to confirm what I think I have found. Since the patch, city changes and team names are not changing, at least in a newly created game.

They work fine if you run a straight historical game. But if you dump the players and replace with fictional players using the steps in http://www.planetootp.com/FakeHistory/Default.htm
the team/city changes no longer work. Not sure if this relects other yearly updates as well.

I certainly may be doing something wrong but this worked fine for me prior to patch. And once again, a historical game starting in 1901 does reflect the
1902 changes at the end of the season. It is just changing to fictional players that seems to break it.

Thanks for any help.

Make sure the lahman database is in the correct path and format. Other than that I do not know of any other possible cause.

Seeing the exact same thing. Created three new leagues just to confirm.

Could you tell me a little more about the exact steps you took in setting up your league and what you mean by cities not changing?

I'd like to TT this as specifically as I can for Markus to be aware.

I create a historical league from the wizard beginning in the year 1901. I point it to the correct Lahman database path (master.csv), as I'm not using any of the modified databases. I tweak many of the advanced settings, but in the nutshell: Don't import historical rookies; no draft; allow auto-expansion; allow expansion draft; don't recalculate ratings; allow creation modifiers; import strategy modifiers.

The league is successfully created with real players from 1901. I then go back to game setup and "release players, clear rosters" which sends all of the real players to the free agent pool. I then delete all free agents from the "free agent" tab in the game.

I go back to game setup and fill all leagues with fictional players, then release them for an inaugural draft. I hold the draft, and now have what SHOULD be a fictional league which follows an historic timeline (real team name changes, city moves, stadium names, scheduling, etc.) I let the sim run for a few years, but no changes ever occur. The league remains in the exact same setup and structure some 20 - 30 years later. Even the number of scheduled games played remains at 140, instead of 154 after a few years.

Pre-patch, this exact same setup method got the intended results. Definite bummer this go-round.

The only thing I can think of is that the city/schedule changes now happen at the same time that historical players are imported. If you cut off the imports, you cut off the changes.

Thanks again native son, for taking the time to detail the issue.

Prior to reinstalling without the patch I tried a number of restarts tinkering with various changes trying to isolate what exactly was breaking the process. I DID try leaving the Historical Import checked and it still did not work so not tied to that function. Seems to be tied to the Dump Players to Free Agent Pool and killing all Players then filling with Fictional players. As long as those steps are done, then the yearly changes you should see are not implemented (i.e. Team name changes, schedule changes). If you make all the other changes but refrain from dumping players and refilling - then with the Historical players the yearly changes work fine.

Just bought the game and want to run a historical league with fictional players, does anyone know if this problem has been fixed with the latest patch? The patch says "Fixed problems with historical fictional leagues", is this what it means?

This TT was claimed fixed and verified twice, so it appears to be just fine.
