Same Scout - Different Ratings
Occasionally I run into a scout (in this case my Head Scout) whose ratings don't agree comparing Player Profile OVR/POT to the Scouting Reports page. They are both the same date, so it's not a question of timing. It just doesn't match. Here's are the pics. Profile Corner and Scouting Report line. Again, same scout, just flipping from one page to another. If there's something I'm not seeing, I'm more than willing to offer the big Doh! I just don't see it.

The bottom graphic shows ratings relative to the CSL. Is that a major or minor league? Is it the league you are currently managing in? Maybe those OVR ratings are being shown in relation to different leagues?
Are the non-OVR ratings identical in both screens? |

Same scout, same date of scouting, the only difference is the Potential on the Player Profile differs from the Potential in the Scouting Reports page. It's the major league. Both pages compare the same league. They're just different. I'll have to look again that the non OVR's, just to be sure, but I don't recall a difference there.

Well, I know that the OVR ratings displayed in that second screen are set at the time of scouting and cannot be changed, as I've TTed this in the past and was told as such.
Did you do some editing of your league that would make a previously highly rated player look considerably worse by later comparisions to the other players in the league? Is it a small league that rates by position? |

Yes, when you rescout a player the scouting screen will update. What I'm saying is that the scouting screen will not update the OVR ratings when the scale gets adjusted, while the player profile screen will.
What day had you simmed to when you took those screenshots? (I.e. how much time had elapsed after scouting?) Do those two screens match at the time of scouting and then diverge over time? |

The additional thought crossed my mind as to whether these players might have been involved in the ante during a Shop Player function. The ratings in the candidates offered, IIRC, don't always size up exactly with the Head Scout's last assessment either, and a quick-scout will normally alter it by a small margin.

Yeah, this one is TT 2113. Marked Not Supported/Possible. Here's a copy of the TT data I posted in there a few months back:
"Possibly intentional, possibly not: Scouting reports show OVR values from the time when the report was filed. These OVR values don't always match the displayed OVR values on other screens (the player profile screen, for instance) after time has passed because the quality of players in the league shifts and the OVR ratings for the league shift slightly. Actual and potential ratings for stuff, movement, eye, etc. remain constant. Only OVR ratings rescale. This creates a confusing discrepancy when moving back and forth from the scouting report screen to any other screen." "Ideally, turn the scouting scale to 20-80 (easier to see differences than using stars) Scout a player (using multiple scouts helps to demonstrate it further) Stop scouting him once reports are in Write down OVR ratings in the Scouting Reports section of a player, then in his main player profile screen Sim a number of months More often than not, checking the new numbers against your written ones will show a change in the OVR numbers on the main player profile screen but not the scouting reports section" |
