The Braves managed to suck once again and I believe will have the #3 overall pick, there are 1 guy I REALLY want, and 2 others I really like (one is probably a surprise)...... we'll see

I figured as much. He was IMO the BEST catcher ever IRL. Let's hope he gets along better with his teammates in the lg than he did IRL. There were some lifestyle differences that he and other players (especially Pete) just did not agree on.

Guys, dont know about you all but Batty has become my favorite OOTP league I ever been in. Probibly because of the format things just move along. Sure their are plenty of leagues that guys spend hours posting on boards or working out trades ad they tout the great "activaty" but I guess this has become almost like a personal home sim league without having to do it myself.
First thing I do every day is download batty files, check out my team , send in export. 15-20 mins done.

June '16 Update
EARLY LEADERS LOOK FAMILIAR
The Chicago Cubs have surged out to the best start of any team this season, with a 28-13 record through May 31, good enough to lead the National League by four games over the Giants. In recent seasons the Cubs have dominated the league, winning pennants on an almost annual basis with the usual runners-up being those selfsame Giants. Over in the American League, the Red Sox and Indians are tied atop the standings with identical 26-15 records. The defending World Series champion Senators are four games off the pace. In the early going it looked like the Yankees, a team which usually scuffles through the season, was going to make a run. New York started with a nine game winning streak before losing three straight to start a skid which saw them go 10-22 after their 9-0 start, and dropped them back into a fourth-place tie, seven games behind the leaders. Frank Schulte of the Red Sox has been living up to his nickname of "Wildfire" as he has burned AL pitching for the first two months of the season, sitting far ahead in the batting leaders with a .429 average. New York Giants star Ross Barnes is back to his hot-hitting ways, posting an NL-best .385 mark thus far, a significant improvement over his 1915 average of .339 and much closer to his breakout season of 1914 which saw him hit .421 to lead the league. Another Giant, Jim McCormick, has been the league's best pitcher with a ridiculously low 1.13 ERA and a 7-1 record through eight starts. He's completed seven of his eight starts and tossed four shutouts so far. Over in the AL, Joaquin Andujar of Boston and Philadelphia's Dave Stieb each have a 1.88 ERA to lead the league while another pair of hurlers - Mark Eichhorn (WAS) and Gary Nolan (BOS) each have eight victories.

this might be the last year Cleveland has a shot...most of our top players are on the other side of 30 and the ratings have begun to slip. Hoping we can win 1 more WS ring before the rebuilding phase begins

The Browns lose Rico Carty for his whole career. I don't even know when the injury happened--spring training?
Oh well--even Cap Anson can't say he ended up with a .404 career average, even if it's in just 104 at bats. |

Trade Deadline Update 1916
TRIBE BUILDS AL LEAD, NL RACE STILL TIGHT
The Cleveland Indians have opened up a nine-game lead on the Boston Red Sox in the American League. The Washington Senators, defending champions, are in third-place, a full twelve games back. Cleveland's 63-33 record is the best in the game and it looks as though they'll be printing World Series tickets this fall. After all, they possess the league's top batting average (.270) and top ERA (2.48). With old reliables Dave Orr and Joe DiMaggio still producing on offense and the solid pitching of Joaquin Andujar, Vic Aldridge, Eddie Hogan and Chief Hogsett, the Tribe is running on all cylinders. DiMaggio currently has 2730 career hits, and if he continues to hit, could reach the magic 3000 hit mark late next season, or early in 1918. He is 36 years old though, so no one knows how much longer he can continue to produce. The National League is still led, as usual, by the Chicago Cubs with the second-place team - just a game back - being the New York Giants, again - as usual. The Cubs and Giants seem to do this every year with the Cubbies managing to squeeze just an extra win or two more than the Giants to capture the NL flag. If the Giants could take care of business at home where their record is 24-24, they'd be unstoppable as they are extremely proficient on the road with a 31-17 mark away from the Polo Grounds. The Cubs on the other hand, are 32-16 at home, but 24-24 on the road.

Brutal. Tommy Leach, the guy I got in the draft rather than who I wanted (Wilson) took a double hit to contact. Now down to a 3. Nice #4 pick.
We're going to continue sucking for years. |

End of Regular Season - 1916
GIANTS, INDIANS TO MEET IN WORLD SERIES
The New York Giants captured the NL pennant, largely on the strength of winning head-to-head battles with the Chicago Cubs down the stretch, finishing with a strong 93-61 record and a nine-game cushion over Chicago. New York's star second baseman - and strong MVP candidate - Ross Barnes hit .350 for the season, to lead the league while a trio of 20-game winners (Scott Service, John Wetteland and Jim McCormick) led the staff. The Giants will have their hands full in the series as they'll face the AL champion Indians. The Indians' pythagorean record was a staggering 107-47, but they "underachieved" to a final standing of 98-56, which was still good enough to finish eight games ahead of Boston. Cleveland boasted the best batting average (.266) and ERA (2.36) in all of BaTTY. Dave Orr (.330-3-70, 29 steals) remains a star, tying for second in the league in batting average, though Joe DiMaggio (.287-0-56, 20 steals) seems to be slowing down at age 36. Vic Aldridge remains the mainstay of the staff, with a league-best 29-9 record and an ERA of 2.09, second-best to Fred Heimach of Boston.

Congrats to the Giants - they beat me up head to head and deserve the pennant.
It looks like the Cubs have peaked - and it is time to rebuild. At least in the infield. |

World Series Update - 1916
GIANTS WIN WORLD SERIES
The New York Giants capped an outstanding season by upending the Cleveland Indians in a seven-game World Series to be crowned 1917's champions. It didn't come easy - after winning the first two games at the Polo Grounds and winning game four in Cleveland, the Giants dropped two straight, including a tough 1-0 loss in game six before winning a tightly-contested game seven by a 4-2 score to win the title. Amazingly, the Giants beat Vic Aldridge, the Indians' ace pitcher, all three times they faced him, leaving the usually dominant hurler with an 0-3 record and 5.59 ERA in the Fall Classic. The Series MVP went to catcher Deacon White who dominated the series with a .545 batting average and 10 runs batted in.
